What a total character our boy Merlin has turned out to be! Every day he comes up with a quirky new weird behaviour that just makes everyone smile and laugh. Merlin is a bit of a chonky gentleman whose main goal in life is to collect all of the slippers to use as pillows and steal as many cuddles and snuggles as he possibly can with his humans.
Merlin has met other dog breeds, however, was quite overexcited about it so was not let off leash with them. He didn’t show any aggression but it was obvious he would likely push the other dogs to run so he could chase after them. For this reason, ideally a household with no other dogs or one other greyhound would be most suitable. Merlin can get a little possessive of the items he collects (slippers) which is also another reason we believe him living as an only dog would really be best.
Due to his goofy nature and no spatial awareness Merlin is going to need someone who can handle a big chonky dork of a greyhound with no young children (in case he was to knock them over!) Merlin is, however, currently residing with four other male greyhounds and is coping quite well. You can certainly tell that he wants the human cuddles all to himself though!
He is quite an active boy who will need multiple walks a day, he would be best suited to apartment or house and yard living as opposed to farm/property. Merlin LOVES his toys and will happily play zoomies and spinnies with his human when the opportunity arises. Of course, he will need to be kept on leash at all times while he adjusts to his new life, a muzzle will be provided to his new adoptive family for when he is out and about during the transition period.
If you’re looking for a greyhound that will glue himself to you and become your absolute best friend (and an expert of cuddles and spinnies!) this is your guy. A home where his humans are home most of the time is going to be preferable, but he has been quite good to be left alone at home as he is a confident boy that doesn’t seem to get separation anxiety at all. Merlin may take a bit of time to bond with his new family, but once he has you in his heart he will do absolutely anything for you. I love this boy a lot and his future forever family are going to be the luckiest people in the world to have this genuinely loving and ridiculously goofy boy in their lives.
If you think you can give Merlin the most perfect of homes please complete an application form, Merlin is truly a delight to have around, he just wants to be loved and have a family to call his very own.
