About Uncle Pooh
WE CAN ASSIST WITH THE TRANSPORT/FLIGHT COSTS TO HELP POOH FIND HIS FOREVER HOME.
An affectionate big Teddy bear, 7 year old Uncle Pooh loves nothing better than to curl up by your feet or by your side and keep you company! He has become a favourite of his foster carer
Poo’s sweet, undemanding nature makes him the ideal companion to fill the home with love without being underfoot all the time. He would be best suited to a couple or individual with whom he can spend quiet time, lovely walks and loads of cuddles.
He does not need not a lot of exercise or a big yard. He could suit a unit.
When Uncle Pooh was young he came into the care of Gloria the famous "Dog Lady" of Yuendumu for medical treatment. https://www.facebook.com/aussiedesertdogs.
He didn't receive much socialisation with humans so not being very confident he was at the end of the re homing list.
But we decided Pooh deserved a chance, so he has flown from Alice Springs to Sydney to try and find his forever home.
He might be great with kids but as his foster carer is still waiting for grandchildren there are none for him to meet.
He loves a quiet spot to lie and would love to be near you but is also happy to be in another room. He has been comfortably home alone for a few hours at a time.
He is very respectful of the foster cats and is experienced with dogs of all ages and sizes.
He loves the car, is doing well on lead and comes back when called.
He has never toileted in the house even when inside overnight.
Not having spent time with lots of people, he is cautious of anyone new he meets. He needs an experienced owner who understands they need to watch his body language and know when Pooh is feeling over whelmed.
Training school would be a fun and affective way to bond with Pooh and help his confidence
He is a bit taller than a large Labrador approx 36kg
All Camp dogs are such a mix of breeds, each one being unique. So don't bother asking what breed they think I am because we don't know. You'll be able to play the guess what breed my camp dog is game, for the rest of of my life.
Pooh is chipped, vaccinated, de sexed and parasite treated.
PLEASE NOTE
Pooh is in good health but has come from an area of Australia where there have been cases of Ehrlichiosis (a brown tick borne disease introduced to Australia in 2020).
He was tested and was previously exposed to Ehrlichiosis but is negative for this now. As a precaution he has had a course of antibiotics

Adoption details
WHEN APPLYING PLEASE PROVIDE ANSWERS TO ALL OF THE QUESTIONS BELOW.
1. Have you had a dog before is so, when, size, and age? (not if you have looked after someone else's dog)
2. Who makes up your home, how old are they, what is their relationship to the applicant, and are they all ready to come to a meet and greet if this is offered?
3 Most dogs, puppies, and young cannot be left alone for long hrs e.g more than 4hrs at a time. How will you deal with this issue?
4 If you want a puppy how will you deal with the work involved i.e. toilet training, chewing, mouthing - those sharp teeth - jumping up, going to puppy classes?
5. How will you cope with all these issues if you have children (how old are your children?)?
6. A dog is not just for the children so why do the parents want the puppy and how will you provide the constant supervision and boundaries needed?
7 Have you considered that a dog or a puppy cannot immediately be taken to a dog park or cafe and need to slowly understand all the new sights, sounds, people, dogs, etc of their new environment?
8 If necessary how will you seek additional one on one training for you and your dog?
9 Where will the dog sleep at night?
10 How will you provide for any veterinary costs?
11. How will you cope with behavior issues should they arise?
12 If you rent have you obtained written approval for a dog?
13 If you own an apartment have you obtained written approval from the body corporate?
14 We cannot provide any more information about the eventual size or breed of the dog. Have you considered this?
15 If you are offered a meet and greet and it is felt by all that the dog or pup is a good fit for your family, we expect you to be ready to take the dog home/adopt at the time.
From what date do you want to adopt?
We cannot hold dogs as space in foster care is needed for other dogs.
Thank you
