About Luca
Hi I’m a happy, active, scruffy, little ray of sunshine with bucket loads of character!
My foster mum says I’m the most adorable little weirdo she’s ever met. I’m still going through my adolescent phase, full of beans (and mischief if I get the chance) but am as sweet as I am bouncy.
I am a Jack Russell Terrier x who is 1 year and 4 months old.
I am a busy little dude and am learning to balance my high energy nature with chill out time. My new home will understand that I’m a developing young dog and will need mental stimulation and an outlet for my intelligence and energy, as well as continued reinforcement of the training I’ve started. I will thrive in a home that understands positive reinforcement training and will provide me with enrichment opportunities and structured games so I can continue to develop into a well rounded doggy citizen.
I have lived with a cat previously, and I do like to try and play with them so I will need to go to a home with a cat who is fine to be annoyed by me or a home with no cats. I have not been tested with pocket pets. Please keep in mind I am a terrier mix and we were bred to catch and dispose of tiny critters.
I am great with other dogs and people of all ages, everything and everyone are my new best friends ever! I get super excited to meet people and doggy friends, but am learning that bouncing all over people, and playing tonsil hockey with puppers I’ve just met, is not very polite and sitting pays better!
I would be happiest in a home where I have both human and dog company. I love the doggy companions in my foster home and have blossomed under their calm guidance. While I was pretty OTT when I got here and pestered my foster bro to wrestle constantly, he (and my foster mum) have taught me that we can enjoy exuberant playtime and can be equally as happy just calmly chilling out together. If you already have a stable, friendly dog to continue showing me the ropes that will help me grow into a model doggy sibling.
I could do well in an only dog home too, but I would prefer you to be with me more often than not, and you would need to commit to doing activities to exercise my brain and provide appropriate socialisation. I would make an amazing agility, obedience, nose work or flyball dog. I could even make a graceful doggy dancing partner, assistance dog or scent detection dog with the right training. I am ball mad and will go to great lengths to locate my ball after it’s been, um, relocated. If you’re a sporting or working dog home I have endless potential! I would also make an excellent hiking or jogging partner.
I’m crazy smart and both food and toy motivated (although no stuffed toy leaves my jaws with all limbs intact)! My basic manners are pretty solid and I’ve learned a trick or two since being in foster care. My repertoire includes sit, down, paw, touch, settle, tug/give, come, wait, fetch, leash manners and crate training. I’m totally toilet trained and use the doggy door, and am an expert at doggy enrichment puzzles! My foster mum says I’ve earned a gold star for effort and am an utter delight.
I’m not only fun, outgoing and clever, I’m also a total smooch; an expert level cuddler, couch snuggler, and lap warmer! I have learned to sleep overnight in a crate here after our nightly snuggles on the bed (foster mum says thems the rules), but I’m sure I could get used to spending the night spooning if your house rules are different.
If you think you can meet my needs and are into quirky, sweet, super clever, active little ragamuffins I could just be your new best friend!

Once an adoption enquiry is completed our admin team will assess the application and if successful we will arrange for a meet and greet to be completed. We may also request photos of your yard for consideration of your application. Please note that we will do no more than 3 meet and greets per dog.
Approved applicants will be contacted to arrange a time for a meet & greet via email. You must bring your current dog along to the meeting if you are meeting another dog/puppy, this is to ensure they get along before commencing adoption - proof of your dogs up-to-date vaccination is required before any meet and greet is arranged.
Our adoption fee must be cleared in our bank account before any animal is available for pick up. Please note we bank with ANZ - any other bank may take 48 hours to process the monies.
Paw Prints Canine Rescue has a 10 day trial period – this basically means that if for any reason the adoption does not work out and the dog needs to be returned to us, the adoption fee minus an admin fee (minimum is $100) will be returned to the adoptees via bank transfer within 7 working days.
Please note that if an interstate adoption needs to be returned or regional adoption all transport cost with be paid by the adopter.

Any transport costs are to be paid by the adopting family, however we can assist you in helping with transport to airports etc.
** Please note some of our dogs are not available for interstate adoption
