About Splash
Adorable little Splash is now seeking her forever home. She is 8-month-old jack Russell x mastiff puppy who weighs around 12 kilos. She is not expected to get to much bigger.
Splash
Splash is a little bundle of joy and happiness. She has so much personality and itâs impossible not to fall in love with her. She has the cutest face and the most beautiful, innocent hazel brown puppy eyes. She is always over the moon to see you, even if you have only been away for two minutes.
Splash is a very sensitive girl who listens well. She is intelligent and picks up new rules and commands quickly. We donât know what Splash has been through in the past, but her behaviour indicates that she has been mistreated. She is quite scared of all new people that she meets, but men in particular. If there are any men in her future family, they must be willing to be patient and gentle with her, in order for her to build up trust. She usually accepts people after a few minutes so she is not scared for very long, just when she first meets them. She also gets scared and stressed by loud voices or sudden hand movements, so she would not be suited for a busy and loud family.

Splash comes with one of our adoption packs including Harness.Lead and seat belt safety
Splash loves going for long walks off lead in nature. She loves the freedom of being off lead but always stays close. She is very friendly and respectful of other dogs but is not super interested in them. Her main focus is her family and she is happy and content as long as she gets to be with them. She loves to cuddle and when her foster mum was sick for a few days she spent the entire days cuddled up on the sofa with her. So even if she prefers to get two medium to long walks every day, she has shown that she can manage with less as well.Even though she is very young, she is not destructive at all. As long as she is given things to chew on from time to time, she seems satisfied. She is also fine to be by herself during the day if left outside. As long as she has a hut that she can sleep in she doesnât mind it. She doesnât cry or bark when left alone.
Obedience
Splash is still a puppy and she still has some puppy behaviours, such as jumping on people and nibble on your clothes when she wants to play, but apart from that she is very well behaved for such a young girl. When Splash first came to her foster family she was barking a lot but she only had to be told off a few times and now she never barks. She just wants to do the right thing and be loved and she really tries hard to do the right thing. She is very intelligent and eager to please. She is also very food motivated and this makes her quite easy to train. Her foster family has been practising recall, sit, down and fetch and she learns so quickly. If you are someone who likes obedience training you would have a lot of fun together with Splash. But she is also happy to just be with you, and since she naturally wants to be close to her family, she is so easy to have off lead. She walks well on the lead as well but can at times pull a lot, so she will require some further training.
Enrichment
Splash is quite easy to deal with and doesnât get destructive when bored. Her foster family always leaves her in the back yard when they have to leave her by herself, and she usually spends the time sleeping in her little hut. She has toys laying around in the back yard as well but she hasnât figured out how to play with toys yet. We are working on this.
Sleeping
Splash sleeps outside due to not yet being fully toilet trained. She is fine with this and is always quiet. She will sleep until her family wakes her up in the morning.
Socialisation
With dogs: Splash is friendly and respectful with all dogs that she meets. She enjoys being around other dogs but high energy dogs stress her out. She doesnât like when other dogs are too intense and in her face. She will walk away from themwhen she has had enough, but if they donât leave her alone, she with tell them off or run and hide behind her family. She definitely prefers low to medium energy dogs and is happy to play with them. She gets overwhelmed by other dogs quite easily and will show her family when it gets too much and she wants to leave.
With people: When at the dog park, Splash will run up to all people and jump on them to say hello, but she easily feelsthreatened if someone is leaning over her to try and pet her. Itâs not a problem when she is off lead as she easily can run away, but when on the lead or in a cramped space, she can feel threatened, especially by men. She can then growl and bark and will try to back away. It is important that her future family is understanding of her behaviour and is patient with her. Splash is a lovely, sweet dog and she is simply just scaredand will require time and training to build up her confidence.
Food
Splash eats a mix of Prime rolls and dry food morning and night. She has a good apetite.
Hygiene
Splash has a very short coat that requires minimal maintenance. She is not 100% toilet trained but doesnât have accidents if taken out regularly. She will often try to tell you when she needs to go to the toilet by buffing you and make strange noises. Itâs very cute.
Travel/Car
Splash travels well in the car but has not yet built up the courage to jump in by herself. Her foster family is working on this and she is not far off. She will jump out of the car by herself.
Ideal home
Splash ideal family would be a someone who will enjoy taking her for walks, give her cuddles and that can offer her a safe, calm home environment. She does not crave socialisation and would be happy to just be with her family all the time, as long as they take her for walks of course. She has no problems being left alone at home. She seems to be friendly with all other animals and would probably be okay with another dog, as long as itâs gentle and not too energetic.Due to her insecurities and how scared she gets when people are unpredictable or loud, she would prefer a family without children, or with mature and calm children. Splash doesnât need a very big back yard as she doesnât play or run around when left alone, as long as she has a little hut that she can nap in she is happy. Splash is very affectionate and would like a family that appreciates that and lets her come up in the sofa for a cuddle. Splash is a very sweet little girl who just needs to be loved
