About Buddy James ( BJ)
Buddy James aka BJ
This adorable ,little fella is a Staffy x Kelpie blend with a heart of gold
at only 6 months old this beautiful boy has the makings of an amazing boy as he has an amazing love of all humans and dogs alike
BJ has a soft and gentle nature, is curious and exploratory on walks and is very well behaved around other animals. He is very spritely and energetic and has generous levels of energy. He sleeps outside and is comfortable being by himself or with other dogs. During his time with his foster family, he has been amazing with many visitors, most of which include small kids, he treats all people equally and is not fussy about who is patting him.
PLEASE CHECK YOUR SPAM AND JUNK FOLDERS FOR YOUR APPLICATION ONCE YOU HAVE APPLIED
BJ comes with one of our adoption packs including Harness.Lead and Seatbelt safety
BJ’s foster family consists of a female dog of equivalent size, two children and two adults and has been a dream. He has shown playful cheeky affection to all of us equally and is happy to sit or follow us around curiously. Our children have spent heaps of time in the backyard, chasing each other and throwing balls. BJ made an instant impression on his foster family, as he is an absolute joy to spend time with, he warms your heart.
BJ loves playing with foster sister, they could play all day - tug of war with toys or sticks. Running in the yard or just playing in the doggy house (love shack) being all kissy kissy. He is quiet as a mouse alone and is quite happy to play on his own. He eats well, has beautiful manners, and shows gorgeous affection for his humans. Walks are an absolute pleasure with BJ, although he does prefer to lead or walk beside foster sister. He can get excited when he sees other dogs, he wants to play with everyone. Amazing with kids and visitors, extremely friendly boy.
OBEDIENCE: BJ is a beautifully mannered boy with very submissive eager to please behaviours. He will sit and wait for his leash to be placed on, he is wonderful on walks, sitting at the crossroads. He is very pleasant to everyone he meets, sits nicely for kids to pat him. In the yard he is quiet, sleeps or follows you for pats. He has shown zero destructive behaviours, only dug a hole to sleep in. He had a bath and was well behaved, not fussed by the water although did not love high-powered hair dryer to finish off. He will get better with washing over time.
SOCIALISATION: BJ will play all day if a dog wants to play too, he may bark on lead with excitement then will want to jump and run, he has played well with resident dog and stops for rests in the sun occasionally.
ENRICHMENT: BJ will love people, if you have the time to sit with him, he will be most happy. He has played with a ball teddy, sticks, Kongs, he comes when you call him. He plays with loads of energy with his foster sister, zooming around the yard playing chase. Would benefit from daily walks and training.
SLEEPING: BJ sleeps outside, he is quiet as a mouse and sleeps right through. Unless a neighbouring dog bark you will not hear a peep from him until 7am when he stares at us through the glass door – Breaky time!
FOOD: BJ is eating two meals a day which consists of dry food and Prime 100. Does respond to jerky style dog treats for training.
TRAVEL/CAR He travels well in the car, initially needing some help to jump into the car but settled quickly without fuss. BJ was a dream during his most recent vet visit, they said his behaviour was excellent!
IDEAL HOME: BJ loves people more than anything else, we really wish he meets the most perfect family for he is a dream best friend!! With some recall training and basic commands, he will bring so much joy to any family. He will need space as he loves to run doing zoomies and enjoys sunbaking. He does jump a little to kiss you so best for children with dog experience.
Adoption Criteria
A nice size yard with secure fencing, shade and shelter and plenty of grass to play
A home with another dog would be fantastic as BJ is a lover of friends and if a dog in residence we would be seeking a loving and playful female of med size who is well socialised with other dogs
A home with kids is fine but they must be mature , kind and gentle with dog experience
A home that are prepared to spend time in his training and ensure he matures into the amazing boy he has the potential to be
A family that have time to walk him daily and teach him about the big wide world
