About Obi
OBI
The Absolutely adorable Obi our gorgeous 12 month Black Labrador Boy is now seeking his forever home
Obi is your typical smiling happy Labrador who is excitable when stimulated and a happy tail wagging boofhead who loves to love and loves to give love
Obi is generally a well-behaved Labrador who adores people. All he is looking for is lots of attention and someone who can play with him every day. He can be very outgoing in familiar environments but might be a bit nervous when meeting/going somewhere new. He loves his food and toys but would much rather a belly rub than chasing a ball. He is super energetic with high energy as a typical lab does but does enjoy his nap times too. When first meeting Obi he can be a little apprehensive for a few minutes then he smiles that big Labrador smile and is a big love bug.

OBEDIENCE
Obi listens very well in calm environments but when he is out and about his hearing can sometimes be selective. He hasn’t been on the lead much before going to his foster family so his been learning the ropes with that and has been getting better every day. We don't think Obi had spent much time out of his backyard prior to coming to us so he can at sometimes get a little nervous out and about until he learns the surrounding areas. Obi is doing very well on the lead and loves a nice walk but when he sees another dog he gets very excited to see them and will pull hard to go and greet them. He will sit for treats and is eager to please so training should not be an issue
he is patient with his food as well which any Labrador owner would know is highly unusual lol
ENRICHMENT
Obi is quite an active dog so needs lots to do or he sometimes finds his own things to chew. He isn’t a huge fan of KONG toys with treats but will happily chew/play with any other toy he is given. He can be left alone while your are at work but as typical Labs at this age if not kept busy and well exercised Obi will absolutely find his own things to do . We would definitely be seeking a home that can keep Obi well exercised and stimulated or as we know true to the breed havoc will probably happen lol
SLEEPING
Obi sleeps in the laundry but has access to outside. If it were his choice, he would be snuggle up under the covers in bed with you but still gets a nice big fluffy bed in the laundry. He doesn’t bark or make any noise during the night.
SOCIALISATION
As said above, Obi adores people. He just wants to be a part of everything and have all the attention on him. He loves the foster carers cat but can sometimes chase him if play gets a little energetic. We have tested Obi with a submissive gentle playful female and he showed a great to play. WE feel if Obi was to go to a home with another dog we would be seeking a home with a med to large dog of similar playful but gentle and submissive temperament .
FOOD
Obi is fed the Blackhawk Adult dry food morning and night, although he absolutely loves fresh doggy rolls (Prime 100) the best. He loves the SavourLife treats for training and the greenies chews for his teeth.
HYGIENE
Obi is a Labrador with a Lab coat so general maintenance is required
TRAVEL/CAR
He needs encouragement to get into a car and will need help up into large vehicles. Once he is in the car, he relaxes a lot more but seems to have no issues with travel sickness or anything.
IDEAL HOME:
We are seceding a home with lots of recent dog experience to ensure this young pup is guided into maturity in the right hands
A family who are active and can keep Obi exercised andw ell situated while continuing to work on his social skills
Adoption Criteria
A Nice Large secure yard with great fencing, Grass to play and shade and shelter
A family who are committed to training
A home with recent dog experience who will ensure Obi is walked daily ( not just a quick lap of the block) and have the ability to keep him stimulated to avoid boredom
A home with a cat is fine BUT the cat must be very dog savvy as Obi can shse and get rough trying to play
A home with another dog is fine but if another dog in residence we would be seeking a similar size female who is playful and loving and very well dog socialised
Aloth we have not tested Obi with young children we feen he would be perfectly fine and mature children with recent dog experience would be welcome
