Milly

Milly has now been in our care for 210 days.

Milly was surrendered to us as her owner had to move into a caravan and was unable to keep her. Milly has been through quite a bit of trauma, and she has learnt to defend herself in situations where she feels threatened. this is no fault of her own that she has learnt this, she had to protect herself by any means.

Unfortunately, this has caused Milly to be overlooked while in our care. We as her careers can overlook this due to what she's been through, and we don't push those boundaries with her. We let her do her and come to us when she's ready.

First thing in the morning she is out and about asking for pats and doing a lot of leg rubbing, in the afternoon she is out of her hidey bed and on top of her scratching post saying hello to her neighbours & meowing to say come pat me, which we do, we let her set the tone. We strongly believe in a home she will do well, as she'll be able to do her own thing when she wants and how she wants. In the right home she shouldn't have to feel she needs to protect herself so much, but this is years of defensive behaviour she needs to let go of at her own pace. This may take some time, so you will need to understand this when adopting.
What you see in a shelter environment is not always what it will be like in a home environment, and we truly believe she'd be so much more at ease in a home where she can set the tone. She really is a sweet lady who is looking for a chance, someone who knows her ins and outs, what to expect and what might not happen.
