About Sugar
Hi my name is Sugar and my foster mum would like you to know I’m as sweet as my name suggests.
I’m a 5 year and 10 month old, Mini Long haired Dachshund.
I came into care a few months and was told very politely but firmly by my foster mum and some rude dude who introduced himself to me as a vet that I needed to go on a diet! I mean how rude to tell someone who loves food like I do to cut back and be mindful of the amount of food I am offered.
Anyways I started on my get fit and healthy program – got to say not a fan of this diet thing and I have been known once or twice to laying in the middle of the kitchen acting like I’m starving and haven’t been fed in a year ……. I might be a little dramatic sometimes.
So as I was saying I was doing really well losing the weight and doing my walking and all that when one exercises and then I had a setback – around New Year’s I popped a disc in my back and was then crated and put on medication for 6 weeks. I know I was very lucky because my foster mum was really dedicated to ensuring that I recovered I am back to my old self now and still have the use of my back legs and health.
Obviously being a Dachshund we all know that we can come with back problems so my foster mum says there needs to be a few rules for me (1) No steps or stairs in my new home and (2) a home that ‘doesn’t fall for my Bambi eyes when I’m begging for food like I’m starving’ - according to my foster mum my new mum will need to be dedicated and strict in ensuring that the weight I have lost whilst in care can be continued as I have another kg or 2 to loose.
Now onto the fun stuff (cause some of that just didn’t sound like I would be a fun girl) ………….. Let me tell you now I love my people, I am currently in care at a home with a few other small breed dogs and I have been known to push them out of the way for a pat, to be fed first, to go for a walk first and to say hello to my humans first if they have gone out for any reason needless to say while I am good to share a home with another dog my ideal home would be as an only dog simply so I can monopolize my family’s attention hee hee.
(Oh yeah and there could be something to do with the fact that I will steal another dogs bed or food if I can – you know no big deal).
I randomly roll onto my back in front of people to get belly rubs – yes I have been known to lay in the way so you either have to walk around me or give into my demands and rub my belly.
I love to go on walks and if I find out you have been on one without me I have been known to very vocally advise you that I am not happy with the situation. My foster mum says I am very much dramatic and not afraid to tell you if I am unhappy about a situation or I believe I haven’t been given enough worshipping time today.
While I love my walks, I can only go for short walks, so my foster mum got a dog pram so she didn’t have to carry me around “like a tonne of bricks” she mutters, so I could still check out the neighborhood. I love it – how could I not I am out and about and being pampered!
I love love love a bath and love the pampering of being dried and tucked up in a towel ahhhh the bliss of the attention!
I am also really good in the car – I have been known to have a good snooze while you’re driving.
I would love to live with someone who is home more often not or someone who can work from home and I can come in and out of your office doing my own thing when I want.
I am toilet trained.
I do have a coat that does require some brushing and a good groom every few months to ensure that I stay looking my best.
I have not been around cats but my foster mum says that her gut feeling would be that I would chase them simply because I would know I’m not supposed too.
My foster parent’s say I’m a joy to have around so now is the time to find my furever home.
So if you’re interested in opening your home to some love, some fun, a few dramatics and lots of laughter send thru an adoption application
