Should you submit an application OR inquiry and NOT receive a response within 5 business days (Monday-Friday), please understand that you have not met the specific requirements of the foster carer and will not be proceeding to the next stage. Please do not be disheartened or discouraged if you do not receive a reply, this simply means you were not a suitable match at this time. Dog Rescue Newcastle reserve the right to NOT reply to unsuitable applicants and will not tolerate bullying, intimidation or harassment of our volunteers.
The adorably delicious Mr “Schnitzel” is looking for his perfect home! Schnitzel is a 18 week old Kelpie x and is the most loving boy.
Schnitzel is incredibly smart, and learns new tricks with ease. He is toilet trained and has already leant to sit, lay and shake. He would benefit from a family who is committed to his training and keen to teach him new tricks and skills to keep him active.
Being a Kelpie X, Schnitzel has a lot of energy and will need to be walked daily. While he can be active, Schnitzel is also a fan of rest and relaxation and can often be found in his crate having a snooze or sprawled out on the lounge room floor resting.
He has only recently started walking on lead and while he will occasionally pull, he is incredibly smart and will be a fantastic walking buddy with a little more training.
Schnitzel will need a family who will welcome him into their home and lives whilst including him in their daily activities. Schnitzel can get a little anxious when he is separated from his family so would benefit from having someone at home more often than not.
He has such a loving and gentle soul and loves children! He would be best suited to a family with children aged 3+ due to his size (as he will likely grow into a big boy). Schnitzels foster family have a toddler who loves playing and chasing Schnitzel around the house and yard and He is always happy to entertain.
Schnitzel has been socialised with other dogs and would be fine to join a family with other dogs in the home.
He really loves with all his heart, and so very loyal.
For more information on Schnitzel , please contact his foster carer Sam at email sam89.drn@gmail.com, Schnitzel is in foster care in the Newcastle Region, NSW and is available for adoption interstate.
Schnitzel’s adoption fee is $700 and includes all up to date vet work. He is not yet desexed (recommended at 5 months), He is vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms and microchipped.

Medical notes
Schnitzel was born with an underbite. This has been treated with removal of some rear teeth at 10 weeks old. It is hoped that this will allow the jaw to rectify itself, however his new family need to be aware that further dental work may be required as he grows. Please consider your financial position and commitment to providing the best possible care when applying.
As Schnitzel is not yet desexed, he is only available for adoption to Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens because he will need to be returned to a DRN approved vet for desexing when he is approximately 5/6 months old. Please NO out of area applications.
