About Lexi - Loves kids, cats & dogs!
Sweet little Lexi is a beautiful, relaxed girl who loves to curl up in a soft blanket and purr loudly! You may also find her snoozing in a sunlit window, running in and out of tunnels, playing hide and pounce with the cats at her foster home or smooching up to the big doggo there also <3
Born on Valentines day 2021, Lexi started life in a home with a newborn and toddler and is great with them, seeming to know they're fragile and not to be played with. But for older kids she'll be perfect as a playful kitty!
Lexi is respectful and gives space to older cats and playful and affectionate with young cats. And she has piles of affection for the large dog at her foster home!
She's an outgoing, active girl so would love access to a cat enclosure, but if that's not possible will be happy in a family who'll play with her and involve her in family life :)
💕 PLEASE NOTE OUR INDOOR CAT POLICY
Most of our cats were either born, or lived for some time, on the street and have only ever known the outside world to be a source of fear and survival. So although they've been rehabilitated and are in most ways domesticated by the time they're ready for adoption, they WILL return to fear behaviour if ever let outside. Hence we have an indoor only policy (or indoor with access to an enclosure or fully netted area) unless clearly stated in an individual cat's profile. Please consider this before making an enquiry. 💕 ABOUT OUR RESCUE GROUP:
We are a registered charity, foster care network and private shelter, focusing on the rescue, rehab and rehoming of cats who've never had experience with humans, and of dogs who may not have been given a chance by others. 💕 ABOUT OUR WORK WITH DOGS:
We take in dogs from community surrenders, owned arranged euthanasia's which vets have intervened on, and greyhounds retired from or not suitable for racing. Most of our dogs are with us for extended periods to ensure we know them really well before putting them up for adoption, and have been assessed by professional dog trainers if not worked with extensively. We provide full discretion with adopters about dogs' health and behaviour and ongoing support to integrate adopted dogs into new homes, families and lifestyles. The success and longevity of our dogs' adoptions is very important to us.
💕 ABOUT OUR WORK WITH CATS:
We run a donation funded shelter in semi-rural Avalon, that was previously used for dog breeding. When we took ownership of the property, our hard working volunteers spent many months transforming the building into a bright and colourful environment featuring 7 large, fully enclosed pens capable of housing 8 wild-born cats. We take in full cat colonies, pregnant and nursing mothers, ophan kittens, FIV positive cats, and sick or injured cats. Cats are humanely trapped after being identified as un-owned; we don't take in domesticated cats and have extensive processes to ensure cats trapped are true strays as opposed to owned. We don't give cats deadlines to be socialised by or they'll be euthanised, we provide sanctuary for them for as long as they need.
