Profile and needs in a home
Breeze is a female greyhound, who loves everyone and everything, is extremely affectionate and just a joy to have around. She currently shares her foster home with an older female greyhound but is friendly to all dogs she meets on walks and could live with different breeds, although a calm and gentle doggy friend would be best.
Whilst we would prefer that Breeze goes to a home with another suitable dog we will also consider a home without another dog provided that her new family was home more often than not and could ensure that Breeze got daily socialisation and outings with other dogs.
She loves watching cats, and although she gets fairly excited, she is easily distracted and happy to walk the other way. However, as she hasn’t actually met any cats close-up, there is no guarantee that she would be able to live with one.
Breeze is very food-driven and will eat anything on offer – including the contents of the bin, unless a secure lid is provided. Despite this, she takes treats very gently and is happy to share both food and water with another dog.
Breeze has had very little formal training, but walks perfectly on the leash and always comes when called. She was not house-trained when she arrived in her foster home but now asks to go outside when needed. She can ‘sit’ for a treat, but doesn’t really know any other commands. Breeze loves attention and would probably enjoy learning tricks with her new owner, as long as they are patient with her – she can be a little timid and doesn’t like loud voices so would not suit a home with children under the age of approximately 14.
Breeze is looking for a home where someone is at home more often than not. She can be left for 3-4 hours in the company of another dog but is happiest when there are humans around.
Like all of our animals must be permitted access inside at all times and Breeze will need warm coats, a comfy bed, blankets as winter approaches and sleep in a warm area of the home of a night.
Breeze loves going for walks, so a home where she gets out and about a couple of times a day is essential. She is calm and well-behaved in every situation and loves joining her humans on a visit to a coffee shop or a gentle stroll so a home where her new owners will include her on outings is also essential.
She has recently started playing with toys – she prefers soft ones that squeak – but in true greyhound-fashion still spends most of her time asleep. She is not allowed on the furniture in her foster home, but this doesn’t bother her at all, as she likes her own space on a dog bed.
Breeze never barks or whimpers, so would also suit apartment living.
If you would like to meet Breeze please make sure you send us much detail as possible on yourself and the home you are able to provide including your other dog and other pets if any, family members, lifestyle, exercise, mental stimulation, and outings you will provide, how often Breeze would be alone, where she will have access in the home, where she would sleep of a night, where Breeze would go if you went away and could not take her with you, ability to cover vet expenses and any other information you wish to provide.
