Hi, I'm Zippy!

I am a good-natured gentleman of a dog. I'm pleased to meet you!

Things haven't been going my way lately, what with being in the shelter and recovering from heartworm, but now that I'm ready for my new home, I feel things are looking up. I'm so hoping my new forever family will treat me to the pats I've been waiting for.

I'm very much a people dog - I love your company and will come up to you hoping for some attention. TOO many pats (yes, too many - I can't believe I'm saying this!) can be a bit much for me (you'll see me get uncomfortable and lick my lips) but trust me, I love to hang out with you. I don't mind if you sneak me a treat or two, either... do you like chicken nuggets too?

I'd love a forever family who understands dog body language and knows what to do when I get uncomfortable. I would benefit from a consistent and structured household. This will help me feel calm and relaxed.

I can be a bit timid around new people at first, so please let me approach them at my own pace and help me make positive associations by offering me treats in the meantime. I'm not a silly puppy anymore, so I'd prefer to go to a quiet, mature and consistent household with no young kids.

I'm not particularly fond of other dogs and haven't really made any canine friends since I've been here, so I really need to be the only dog in the house so I don't get too jealous. I promise that means you'll get all of my love and attention once I open up with you!

I'd love to be allowed inside my new home, as I'm very sociable and happiest when I'm with my people and love getting cuddles. I'm not a huge fan of loud noises like fireworks, either.
