About Murphy
Murphy is now looking for a dedicated and gentle family. Please only apply if you meet his needs.
Murphy is a very chilled out Border Collie, he loves a good stroll but hikes or running isn't really his thing. He does enjoying digging sand at the beach, hanging out with some canine pals who have manners and playing with toys. He is very vocal when he's excited and loves to talk to you to engage in play.
Murphy is looking for an adults only home without any small animals or cats. He could live with an appropriately matched female dog but a meet would need to be completed at the shelter to see if they are compatible.
Even though running and high energy activities aren't something Murphy loves to do, he is overweight and will need to be on some weight loss food and engage in regular walks.
This boy would be suitable for someone who is happy to use consent when patting him. There a certain parts of his body that Murphy doesn't want to be touched and he is currently learning some cooperative care to help with vet visits and handling. He is doing amazing with staff here at SCAR so his new family will need to continue with this.
Murphy needs someone who will use a hands off approach until a positive relationship has been built between him and his new owner. Once the trust is there and he can see that you're listening to his body language, Murphy turns into an affectionate dog who loves laying on the couch with his people. He will still need someone understanding of his limits, and will be happy to take it at his pace.
Murphy's adoption fee also includes a post adoption behaviour consult with our trainer to help him feel better about handling in certain areas.
