About Nyxie
Nyxie is one special little girl.
She is a beautiful soul with a gentle and loving nature. Nyxie greets you enthusiastically when you get home and jumps up for pats and attention. She is a complete snuggle bug who enjoys the creature comforts in life like comfy beds, couches and sunny spots. You know she’s super relaxed and happy when you find her upside down asleep on the lounge. Despite being such a loyal and loving little companion, Nyxie is still happy to wander off and find her own place to lie down and doesn’t stress when you go out. She will never say no to some pats and cuddles though!
Nyxie needs a very special home to enable her to be this happy and joyful little dog. She was surrendered to us because she is afraid of children. Visitors and strangers are also scary for her, and she will cower away from people she doesn’t know, hide from children and bark at visitors initially until she knows they are no threat. Her new owners must be confident and knowledgeable enough to advocate for her which means ensuring that visitors do not pay her any attention and that strangers out and about do not try to pat her. Nyxie requires an adult only, quiet home where her beautiful personality can shine through. We will also be looking for a home in a quieter suburban suburb from the hustle and bustle of the inner city.
Nyxie enjoys doggie company. She has previously lived with another small dog and is currently in foster care with 4 other dogs of various sizes. Nyxie has initiated play with the other dogs and enjoys chasing games and running around with her toys. She will require a home with another friendly dog (preferably of a similar size – she is about 8kg) who would be happy to have a play with her every now and then. Nyxie loves her walks! She will need daily walks for at least 30 minutes. Nyxie walks relatively well on lead but her preference is to walk at the end of the lead so you will know she’s there. She is more than happy to meet other nice friendly dogs but would find a dog park environment or large rough dogs too overwhelming.
The biggest reason that Nyxie needs a special home is due to her medical condition. She was diagnosed with Addison’s disease about 3 years ago which is a condition where the adrenal glands do not produce sufficient amounts of hormones for the body. Fortunately, this condition is completely manageable and doesn’t shorten the expected lifespan of a dog. Nyxie’s Addison’s disease is currently well managed and stable, but this management will be a lifelong commitment for her new owner. Currently, she has an injection of Zycortal every 56 days and 1/4 of a 5mg tablet of prednisone every second day with her food. To ensure her treatment remains effective she also requires blood tests every 6 months.
Nyxie is going to make a wonderful addition to someone who is just as special as she is. This girl is an absolute gem of a dog. She travels well in the car, sleeps on her bed throughout the night, is toilet trained, crate trained, has good house manners, is good to brush and well behaved for nail clips. She is an inside dog who will need a home with access to a secure yard and a warm comfy bed inside to sleep on at night. We are looking for a quieter home with dog experienced owners. Nyxie is not suitable for units as she will bark when excited and at visitors. She has been living with birds so pocket pets should be ok, but she is not suitable to live with cats or children. Nyxie also loves her food and will need a healthy diet and someone who can make sure she doesn’t get too much of a good thing.
If you would like to be the kind-hearted soul that will give Nyxie her forever home then please complete a Dog Adoption Enquiry Form on the Fetching Dogs website as the next step.

Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
