Looking for a Sponsor or Guardian Angel
Meet lovable Lucian. This gorgeous gentleman just loves human company, pats, cuddles, and naps and loves to be close. He may have had a rough start to life but holds no grudges against people. He is however still hesitant sometimes when he is unsure and can get distressed and anxious in situations that are not familiar. Lucian loves to keep an eye on his humans and get nice and close for cuddles. He enjoys naps with his foster siblings but generally ignores them most of the time. He is an affectionate little guy and loves to rest on the couch at night and keep his human’s company. He is becoming more adventurous and is spending more time outside exploring the front yard on his own and showing some independence in checking out the scenery. He is generally calm but doesn’t like to be left for too long on his own.
Lucian isn’t keen on being picked up and will try to avoid you or will roll onto his back. He can also be fast and sneaky. If Lucian wants to get past you to another room he is as quick as lightning. Who says an old guy can’t run!
Lucian has some health issues which limits his ability to go for walks. He enjoys a small stroll around the yard, some sniffing outside, followed by a nap. Lucian is quite unsteady on his feet and isn’t that great at judging the height of steps or ledges so needs his human to keep an eye on him if he’s in an area that’s a bit uneven. He has a heart condition for which he has medication, and he has trouble with his right leg however, he has recently had some wonderful dental work and been to the groomers. He is looking very handsome! The most endearing thing about Lucian is his little hop walk which is due to limited use of one of his front legs but this also means that his back legs have had to do the hard work for some time and can get a bit wobbly, especially when he wakes up in the morning. He sometimes needs a bit of help getting outside to toilet when this happens.
Lucian will be best suited to an adult, or older family home that has a quiet life. The perfect home would be with someone who is home most of the time and can offer him gentle companionship and patience. He loves people so having someone around would be ideal. If there are any other animals in the home they would need to be quiet and calm. Lucian is fine with cats. A home without children would also be better for Lucian.
Please note: our dogs are not available for interstate adoption. We also do not adopt to people under the age of 25 years.

All our dogs are desexed, C5 vaccinated with intranasal, microchipped, wormed, and flea treated. All necessary vetwork such as dentals, surgery, eye treatment are also carried out. We are no longer heartworm testing as we have not had one positive test since we began in 2006. If a dog comes to us on heartworm treatment this is continued.

Adoption details
We are a community fostercare network, not a shelter, and our dogs and cats are cared for in private homes. Note that we are very careful where we rehome our dogs and cats and we have an intensive process. If you want a quick turnaround we are not the group for you. If you seem like a good match for the dog of your choice we will organise a telephone chat, a meet and greet and a property check. We offer free assistance for six weeks for any issues, a lifetime takeback policy with full refund of the adoption fee, and will always be available to offer advice.
We care for our dogs and cats and we want you to as well. We know that genuine applicants have no trouble with this process and understand that if we refuse you a dog or cat, it is because you are not the best match for that pet.
Our commitment to the dogs and cats in our care is total and we treat each one as if we are passing on a family pet. This may not suit you so we point out that there are equally great dogs and cats available in pounds, shelters and with other rescue groups.
