Scruffy, sweet and full of love. That is our boy, Bear.
Bear is a lovely little dog who has fit into his foster home perfectly. He is currently in foster care with other dogs, ferrets, birds and a new kitten. He has responded well to new kitten as well as the ferrets. He shows interest in them but responds right away when signaled to move away. He gets along well with the dogs and pays no attention to the birds.
Bear is a playful dog who loves to toss his toys in the air and even at 4 yrs old, still has the puppy zoomies. He is so very happy to see you when you return home and just loves sitting on the lounge with you. He also sleeps on his foster carer's bed with the other dogs but happily gets off when told to. He responds well to commands, especially "sit" and is working on perfecting "stay".
Bear travels well in the car so is easy to take to the vet or on a Sunday drive with you. He gets excited when you get his lead out. He does get a bit excited once it is on but settles fairly quickly, so some further lead training would be great for him to ensure everyone is happy on walks. He is happy to eat whatever is served up with his canine foster siblings and has no food aggression.
He doesn't really like his hair being brushed but is getting used to it, so gentle brushing is encouraged to help him become more comfortable with it so his coat does not become matted.
Bear does need a bit of help with toilet training for number ones, so an owner who is committed to helping him get into routine with this would be best. He can go all night without weeing so just needs routine and boundaries set up for daytime from day one.
Bear has been crate trained and enjoys being in there. He is such a quick learner and his foster mum was very impressed with how fast he took to the crate, only a couple of days and he was willingly going in by choice.
Our Bear is really a sweet natured, goofy boy who deserves a loving home to thrive in.
Adoption details
We ask that before you apply for one of our animals, you take the time to think through all aspects of having a pet in your home to ensure it is the right thing for both your family and the animal, now and in the future. Please consider how you would approach changes in your home that may affect your pet and how dedicated you would be to keeping/helping your animal when faced with any issues that may arise in the future.
If you have done this and are interested in one of our animals, please fill in our adoption enquiry form - www.cognitoforms.com/LostAndFoundPetsIllawarra1/LostAndFoundPetsIllawarraIncAnimalEnquiry
