About Shrek and Fiona - Located in Endeavour Hills
Once upon a time, two unlikely companions, Shrek and Fiona, found each other and fell in love. They're now ready to start their journey to a happily ever after.
Shrek, also known as Donnie, has come a long way since he first arrived at our shelter. At first, he was a scared and rough-looking ogre with a heart of gold. But with time and lots of love, he's blossomed into a beautiful, affectionate, and lovable cat who's ready to share his love with everyone he meets. Shrek is a big boy with a gentle spirit and a deep love for his best friend, Fiona. You won't find a sweeter and more loving cat in the entire world - he truly is one in a million!
Fiona, on the other hand, came to us as a scared ex-street cat. She was initially very timid, but since meeting Shrek, she's learned to trust humans and enjoy their company. Shrek has been her mentor and friend, teaching her all about the joys of being a pet cat. She's still a bit shy, but her silly and goofy side shows more and more each day, making her a joy to be around.
Shrek and Fiona are inseparable. They spend their days cuddling, playing, and grooming each other. Their friendship brings them great comfort and joy, and they need a special home that can accommodate both of their needs. Shrek has a few health issues, but with the right care and attention, he's sure to lead a long and happy life.
Shrek and Fiona are ready for their forever home, whether it's in the kingdom of far far away or just a nice swamp. They're deserving of a loving family who will cherish them and give them the life they deserve. If you're interested in learning more about these two goofballs and giving them the home they've been waiting for, apply now!

Medical notes
Donnie suffers from Allergic Skin disease, secondary to being FIV positive. When uncontrolled his skin becomes extremely itchy and prone to infections.
He has had corrective Entropion surgery earlier this year on his right eye to stop the excess skin on his face rolling his eyelashes into his eye. This is healing nicely.
He also has a low grade heart murmur that is currently not causing him any issues
FIV+ cats live a normal life for many years and we cannot predict the life span of these cats. FIV positive cats sometimes have a scruffy coat and the condition can lead to chronic recurrent infections in the mouth, eye and skin. FIV cannot infect people, however it can infect other cats through bite wounds commonly from fights. FIV positive cats can co-exist with other cats that don't have FIV without issues.
We encourage that the cat is either an indoor cat or a confined cat - eg access to a cat run outdoors. We recommend regular vet visits (6 monthly) to monitor weight, coat changes, mouth etc.

WORLDWIDE CAT VACCINE SHORTAGE
There is currently a worldwide shortage of cat vaccines and supplies are unlikely to be replenished until early 2024. This is due to complicated supply problems post-COVID. Our vets have limited, and in some cases no supplies available, but are prioritising kittens and previously unvaccinated Cats wherever possible.
Kittens are at the highest risk as their level of protection is very low after the initial protection provided by the mother’s antibodies. While protection will wane a little over time, a delay up to three months is unlikely to result in a significant reduction in levels of protection. It is anticipated that clinics should have regular supplies early in the new year to bring your cat back up to date.
First Vaccination completed
We will try to provide at least 1 vaccination, depending on our supplies of vaccines available, however boosters may become overdue. In this case it is your responsibility to contact your vet as soon as supplies become available. We will not be re-imbursing any of this costs.
We require all cats and kittens to be indoors only and not allowed outside. This is especially important now as there is a risk of coming into contact with unknown cats who may not be vaccinated.
No Vaccination completed
Where we are unable to provide any vaccination during their time in care with us, please contact us on 0459779888 or via email to samantha@neko.org.au, and we will arrange for one vaccination to be done at one of our partnering clinics as soon as supplies are available. Boosters after this will be your responsibility.
Please note that should you choose to utilise your own clinic, we will not be re-imbursing any costs. This is your responsibility.
