About Jinkie
Hi I’m Jinkie!
I’ll be turning 11 in August so I’m not a spring chicken, but us terriers can live long lives so I’ve got plenty of spring in my step yet!
I love going for walks and I’m good at walking on a lead. I’m also friendly when I meet people, and I’m good with other dogs.
I haven’t met any cats or pocket pets yet, but given that I’m a terrier, we should probably assume I’d like to chase them and it may not be a good idea. I’m also not really sure about kids so I’d prefer to steer clear of those too.
I’m also a huge foodie. I LOVE FOOD! So much so, that I was a whopping 13kg when I arrived in foster care, but now I’m a svelte 10kg because foster mum put me on a diet. I have learned to wait for my food, and I now eat from a slow feeder so I don’t just hoover my dinner down in one gulp.
My one negative trait is that I’m food aggressive around other dogs - I don’t mean to be - I just want their food so badly I can’t help myself! I have improved with training, but it might be an ongoing issue I have to work on.
Aside from that though, I do like other dogs, and I’d rather have a dog friend if I’m going to be left alone - we would just need to eat in separate rooms. I like having company, so if you’re home a lot, that would be a bonus, and extra points if you let me sleep in the human bed - that’s another of my favourite things!
Medical notes
10 year old Silky Terrier Jinkie is desexed and microchipped. He is also up to date with C5 vaccinations, flea, tick, intestinal worm and heart worm prevention.
He has recently had a dental and didn’t need any teeth extracted.
He arrived in our care with ear and eye infections, but these have all resolved with medication and haven’t returned. Jinkie was also overweight but has slimmed down to 10kg. He is extremely food orientated and can be food aggressive, so must be fed separately from other dogs.
