Hi! I’m Sandy. I’m a 17-month-old kelpie x dingo.
** I'm searching for an active home with a male dog for company. I'm a super snuggler who loves people of all ages.
I'm a sweet girl and have the best qualities of both my breeds. I'll need a home that will provide me gentle exercise and training each day. I love being inside of being included in my families everyday activities. Being an indoor dog is a must in my new home.
Typical of my dingo nature, I am a girl who prefers a hierarchical structure with my pack mates. I love all male dogs, puppies and respect mature female dogs. My kelpie nature means I'm super sweet with my people and enjoy playing with my trusted pack mates.
I came into care with a brachial plexus nerve injury-cause unknown. Despite hydrotherapy and time, I did not regain the use of my left foreleg. I have now had it removed to provide me with comfort. As I have been walking on 3 legs for some time now, I am finding this no problem.
I'm currently in care with other dogs & pups and love a gentle play with my friends and the especially the pups. I love to play with soft toys, chew bones and enjoy a gentle wrestle with my foster siblings.
I sleep inside in my crate. This is my safe place and I will need this to be continued in my new home. I sleep quietly throughout the night, foster mum & dad don’t hear a peep out of me until the morning.
I'm a clever girl and am learning my basic manners here in care. I am food motivated and love to learn.
If you think you can commit to the above for the next 12 or more years, then what are you waiting for? Foster mum would love to hear from you.
Love & licks,
Sandy xx
Medical notes
Sandy suffered a brachial plexus nerve injury to her left foreleg. The cause of the injury is unknown as is the length of time her leg was that way. After a period of trying strapping, a brace and hydrotherapy, Sandy's leg contractures were worsening and the vet advised amputation. Sandy has not used the leg for some time and is not having any issues adjusting to life with 3 legs.
We have edited the photos to hide her healing wound in case some people found it distressing. The video shows the healing suture line.
