Flash

Dear sweet Flash has most likely had it tough prior to his arrival at Amazing Greys, and is looking for kind and compassionate souls to continue to show him that the world is full of good, caring people. When he first arrived, Flash was scared to go on walks, and rarely made a sound. But since coming into foster care, Flash’s foster fam have worked hard to help him open up, and this has resulted in Flash showing us that he has the soul of a collector. So if you find yourself missing a pair of socks, you can bet they will have been lovingly arranged in Flash's bed for safe keeping. Occasionally he has been known to help himself to a towel, face cloth, airpod, and most recently a piece of ginger(?!), but this cute snoot just can't resist the allure of a good pair of socks! His bed is a gallery, and he can't wait to display his treasures for you (don't fret, not a chew mark will be found).

Being a young 2 and a half -year-old grey, Flash has energy to spare, and could suit a home with another confident medium/large dog to play with and to show him how to be more confident himself, pending introductions. He still finds loud and busy streets overwhelming so will need a home where he will be walked in quieter spaces and would prefer to have a yard /to do his business in, as he likes to relieve himself there rather than during his walks (unless he is walking with another dog). Flash’s fosters have found that he does need love and patience during his walk because the world and the people in it, still seem scary to him. They are working with Flash to help him realise that walks can be a thing of joy, and his wonderful new home will be happy to continue the training with him, with the support of Amazing Greys of course.

Despite having had a tough life in the past, Flash co-exists peacefully with a quail in his foster home, so might be suitable to living with chickens, with appropriate supervision and introductions as well. Currently, Flash is very shy and timid around other dogs regardless of size (until he gets to know them) but would not suit a home with a small dog as they can find his exuberance and play style a bit overwhelming.

Flash is the house horse combination of both large and unaware of how large he is, so would not be suited to homes with young children or elderly residents, as he often collides with his humans and bumps around clumsily in his excitement, particularly if he's trying to initiate play in a small space. His favourite style of play is on his back “roaching” while swiping and mouthing his toys. When resting, Flash likes to be left alone while he catches up on his zzz’s (let’s be honest, who doesn’t?), so for this reason would best suit a home with dog savvy young adults or teenagers who will understand that Flash needs his space while on his bed.

While he will delight you with his signature "spinnies" when he's happy (about walks, humans returning home, or meal time), he's otherwise a generally calm and collected kind of guy who can spend up to 7 hours alone by himself at home. He is quite bright, enjoys his daily training sessions and so far he has learned "touch", "wait", and "leave it", while still working on "watch me", "find it", and "lie down". He hopes his new home will keep working on his cues to teach him lots of fun tricks and behaviours (in exchange for yummy treats).

Flash is happiest left alone at home and can be alone for between 2-7 hours as mentioned above, but has previously accompanied his foster to work, where he undertook the very important job of quality control (of the available beds) and loved to wrestle with fellow canine colleague wolfhound x Moose. While he would make an excellent "office dog", he would need access to a fenced in grassed area where he could go to toilet during the day if needed.
