About Rockie
The absolutely beautiful boy Rockie is now seeking his forever home.
He is an 11 year old Staffy x possibly Lab who currently weighs in at 25 kilos.
Rockie is a very well behaved man who is COMPLETELY ball obsessed! Once Rockie has his ball he will keep you throwing it for hours- he doesn’t give up!lol To end the game of ball you simply have to put the ball away and not give in to his beautiful brown eyes. He definitely doesn’t look or act his age. He is extremely happy to see you and appreciates all the time you offer him. He loves to be involved with his family and would certainly love to be involved in all family activities. We think he is such a pleasure to spend time with. He has a beautiful coat, its so silky and smooth! He does drop a little amount of hair and would enjoy a brush a few times a week. Everyone that’s met Rockie has complimented on what a well behaved boy he is.
OBEDIENCE
Rockie is quite perfect, really cannot fault his behaviour. He sits nicely for treats, he will shake your hand and he will even drop. He loves ball play and brings the balls back to you. We take him on a daily walk for 30-40 mins and he is the most pleasant boy to walk! He waits patiently for you to put his harness on, he doesn’t pull on the lead and will sit at every corner waiting for the ok to cross the road. He has seen other dogs on his walk and will do a little excitement cry but continues on with his walk. He will need some enrichment because if bored he has chewed his nice soft bed! But we found that walks, bones and pigs ears keep him happy and out of trouble.
Rockie is definitely NOT a fan of storms, thunder and fireworks. He becomes really scared, shakes and gets very erratic and needs to be kept safe. We have found being an older boy the best option was to give him a sedative to relax him and let him sleep through the noise whilst receiving reassurance from his foster mum.
ENRICHMENT
Rockie has great energy and he rarely barks. He will need some stimulation when alone for long periods, such as chewing on bones or toys. If left for too long, he can get bored and create his own entertainment by pulling apart his bed lol ????? He is extremely quiet and if you throw a ball in the yard and take him on a daily walk he will thrive
SLEEPING
He has been sleeping outside in a kennel under the alfresco whilst in foster care, with no problem at all but, would definitely love to be inside with his family. He really just wants to be apart of the family.
SOCIALISATION
Rockie has been in foster care with resident cats, kids and dogs. Rockie over the past week has been trying to show some dominance over the resident dog by trying to hump him, for this reason we feel he would be best to be the only dog in the home. He hasn’t been fussed by the cats but if they run he will chase them. He has had several strangers visit him in the backyard and he has always greeted them politely and without fuss.
FOOD
He has two meals a day breakfast and dinner which consists of Royal Canine dry food and some Prime 100 of a night. He is given raw bones and pigs ears for enrichment.
HYGIENE
Rockie loves his nice warm shower and massage, he sits perfectly and completely enjoys his pamper session.
TRAVEL/CAR
He absolutely loves the car! He is the perfect passenger and needs no encouragement to jump in- depending on the height of the car of course.lol He quite happily sits there and enjoys the ride.
MEDICAL
Rockie has had a dental completed
IDEAL HOME:
We feel Rockie would thrive in a home with a family that is regularly home and will include him in all activities. Rockie would probably prefer to be an inside dog with easy outside access, giving him the freedom to go about his day as he sees fit. Rockie would be best suited as an only dog. His family will need to ensure he has his daily walk and lots and lots of ball playing.??
Rockie is the sweetest and most well behaved boy a family could wish for. He just wants to be loved.
Adoption Criteria
A large secure yard for play especially ball lol
Daily walks are a must as he loves it
A home with children are fine but they must be kind and gentle
Although Rockie is great with other dogs he tends to get ( Humpy) lol so probably better as an only dog
A home that his family are prepared to play ball with him
A home that understand his fear of thunder and fireworks and are prepared to help him during these times
