About Bonnie ~ 8yr Old Labrador X (On Trial 27/05/2022)
PLEASE NOTE: Dog Rescue Newcastle provide individual listings specific to each foster dog that comes through our doors. Each listing outlines the specific requirements, and home that we are looking for. Should you submit an application OR inquiry and NOT receive a response within 5 business days (Monday-Friday), please understand that you have not met the specific requirements of the foster carer and will not be proceeding to the next stage. Please do not be disheartened or discouraged if you do not receive a reply, this simply means you were not a suitable match at this time. Dog Rescue Newcastle reserve the right to not reply to unsuitable applicants and will not tolerate bullying, intimidation or harassment of our volunteers.
Meet Bonnie, a beautiful black 8 year old Labrador x German Shepherd who loves to be relaxing near her humans and going on walks. Bonnie is a total sweetheart who will show you how excited she is to see you when you get home from work by doing a little happy dance and howling with delight!
When Bonnie came into care, she was separated from her long time doggy pal, but she adjusted quickly to her new home, and after a few weeks is happy to be either big spoon or little spoon of a nighttime with her senior fur foster brother. She is very gentle with him and has met lots of dogs without issue.
Bonnie loves people and despite being good with dogs, she would also be very happy soaking up all the love on her own. She loves being inside and would need to be welcome inside in her forever home. She is very well behaved inside and toilet trained.
Bonnie’s only real quirk is that she gets vocal to see other dogs when out on walks! We think she didn’t get out much in her earlier life so she just gets so excited to see them. She is fine when she meets them and this will calm down the more she gets used to being out and about. She walks pretty well on lead though can pull a little bit- again this will improve.
If she is with another dog, one with a similar temperament would suit her best. Bonnie loves a walk and can certainly keep up, but she can then be found crashed out for the rest of the day, so we don’t think she wants a playmate who wants to go go go all day.
Bonnie would be ok with kids but as she is approaching her senior years, a fairly calm home is her ideal.
Bonnie is toilet trained, sits and waits for her dinner, walks well on the lead, isn’t particularly interested in toys but will play a little chase game with you.
