About Kenny Rodgers
Happy-Go-Lucky Kenny is now looking for a loving home
This amazing boy is a beautiful mix of
Border Collie x Australian Cattle Dog x Wolfhound
He has the long legs of a supermodel and the happy go lucky Border Temperament
At 1 year old this boy is 28 kilos of kissy loving fun
Stunning Kenny would be a much loved companion for owners with a love of quirky, left of centre type of behaviour. His kooky and loving character will quickly win you over!
Kenny is a puppy in a large dogâs body. Being young, he is still exploring the world around him. His curious nature means heâs literally poking his nose in things to discover his environment. He absolutely loves playing with his toys, especially on the couch. Heâs often jumping around on the couch, entertaining himself with favourite squeaky toy. His favourite activity in his down time is curling up on his foster parentsâ lap (sometimes he thinks he is a laptop!) or right next to them. When he sees a dog on TV, heâs right up by the screen, watching intently and barking at the canine stars.
Kennyâs idiosyncratic character is what makes him such a special and loveable boyâŠLike how he chooses to get on the couch by scrambling up the backrest instead of the easy way like the rest of us. Or getting up on the dining chair or office chair behind his foster parents to give them a lick. Or drinking water from the hose when they water the plants. Kenny thinks sweeping or vacuuming the house is a game! And he loves wrapping his front legs around his foster parentsâ necks and drawing them close to give hugs and licks.
He has a strong drive to chase anything that moves â from birds, butterflies, floating plastic bags, vacuum cleaners and brooms in motion.
He thinks everything is a fun game that ebev housework should involve him lol
Kenny has spent most of his time in foster care indoors, using the courtyard for âhis toilet businessâ. He hasnât peed on walks, preferring his private courtyard instead. He is housetrained. He really needs a good size yard to play in as he loves to run and play
OBEDIENCE
Kenny understands basic obedience and walks relatively well on leash (although he can pull when heâs excited). He will benefit from ongoing training and guidance.
Kenny walks quite well on leash though he gets excited when he sees people and wants to jump to say hi and lick them.
Despite his happy go lucky nature, Kenny has a very sensitive side and gets upset if spoken to harshly. Any training and correction should be done in a positive way so keep his spirits up.
ENRICHMENT
Kenny loves playing with his toys, especially the loud squeaky ones and gnawing on chews.
SLEEPING
Kenny sleeps in his own bed in his foster parentsâ room though he pesters to hop into their bed. When he has slept on their bed on occasion, Kenny positioned himself towards their feet and slept all night quietly.
SOCIALIZATION
Kenny gets excited when he sees other dogs and can pull quite hard. When brought close to dogs, he just wants to play. He has not displayed any aggressive tendencies. We think he would thrive with a friend who likes to play
TRAVEL/CAR
Kenny travels extremely well in the car and enjoys car rides.
FOOD
He currently east Food for Dogs dry food mixed with Prime 100
HYGIENE
He is house trained. He likes the occasional brush.
IDEAL HOME / Adoption criteria
- Couple of family with kids over 12(simply because he is a big goofball that likes jumping up and running around and may be too excitable for very young children)
