About Rivers
Wait stop are you looking for me?
My foster mum says I’m really cute with my ears and my precious face – what do you think?
She says I’m the bestest boy in the world but she also says something about me having this quirk of being able to win a Oscar for being the most dramatic dog possible sometimes but I will explain a bit further down cause I don’t think I’m dramatic at all.
My name is Rivers and I am a 5 year old Papillon
I’m looking for a home where I can really be a part of my human’s home, lives and general everyday things.
I am a great companion for someone who wants to do thing with me
* I’m great company in the car - I love car rides
* someone who wants to go for a light walk – I’m picturing us walking along the canal, wind in our hair (just a slight breeze not enough to really ruin my hair), walking past people and having them stop and comment on our lovely I am!. (I am great on a lead).
* I would love to do coffee and catchups with you and your friends and have people comment on how well behaved I am and calm I am
* I can even accompany you to the hairdressers and just be with you while you get your hair done.
* I also love spending time next to you on the couch and sleeping in your bed, I will follow you around but promise to let you shower and use the toilet in peace so don't need to follow up in there.
I'm good to bath and brush I have long hair so regular maintenance of my coat is required that I don’t get tangled, (my foster mum says that Papillon's don't need as much grooming as one might think. Unlike other long-coated breeds, Paps don't have an undercoat. This not only means they don't shed as much as double-coated breeds, but they are also lower maintenance while grooming).
I'm toilet trained so no issues there.
I'm not an escape artist but if there is little gaps at the bottom of the fence my curiosity will get the better of me and I will try to go under - so any gaps in the fence would need to be fixed before I come live with you.
Yeah now okay I know we have to discuss this dramatic thing that my foster mum mutters about…… okay I may, just may let out a quick ear piercing scream from time to time when another dog comes near me and then I will really confuse them and you and other times want to play with them.
I came into care after a bigger dog attacked me and I spent the first week after my surgery to fix the wound around my neck very nervous around other dogs and unsure but as I got more comfortable with them (some are small dogs, some are big) and I have started to settle around them but do like to do my dramatics from time to time. My foster mum says I will probably do better in a home where there is a calm, quiet small breed dog to chill with.
I also do it when I go to the vets and get my needles and did the scream thing there – I did it for about 24 hours after when my foster mum went to give me a pat – In that spot) my foster mum ignores me and doesn’t make a fuss so I don’t really get any reaction from her – she said I need a family who will be able to do that or I may use that to my advantage on normal things.
I am very friendly with everyone I meet but I will pick my favorite person to chill out with the most.
I have been around small children and I’m good with them but the rescue says that I will probably do better at a home where it’s a quiet lifestyle and I can really settle and have a lot of the love and attention on me.
If you are a family who will love me for my entire life and consider me as an important and much-loved family member. Will continue working with me with my dramatics, please send in an application so we may get to meet.

Approved applicants will be contacted to arrange a time for a meet & greet via email. Any transport costs are to be paid by the adopting family, however we can assist you in helping with transport to airports etc.
** Please note some of our dogs are not available for interstate adoption
