About Sankara
Hi my name is SANKARA and I am a fun loving girl with a super soft coat. My foster family would say I am an absolute smooch!
My Mummy is a beautiful and vert gentle Labrador x Mastiff and my Daddy is unknown as mum was pregnant when she arrived
Current weight 9.5 kilos so its fair to say that I'm a chunky girl who is going to be a big boof when I'm grown up
SANKARA is a big soft girl and loves a big cuddle, even though she is a big girl she is still a baby and a big softy. You will get a kiss from her and maybe even a nibble on the ear, although with her puppy teeth she can give you a little nip. She will sit and stare at you through the glass door and give a whine or a howl when she wants attention. She has the most adorable face and eyes and the softest fur. For a large dog SANKARA is quite calm and soft. She is more outgoing than her brothers and comes running quickly to meet new humans and visitors. She gets excited with new meetings and initial play but will then settle. She will make a great companion and will connect with someone she spends her day with. SANKARA is not a digger and tends to play with her siblings and then enjoy a snooze during the day.
She has had 2 sets of puppy vaccines and we have wormed her every 2 weeks since birth
PLEASE CHECK YOUR SPAM AND JUNK FOLDERS FOR YOUR APPLICATION ONCE YOU HAVE SENT YOUR ENQUIRY
Sankara comes with one of our adoption packs including Harness. Lead and Seat Belt Safety attachment
Food
SANKARA is currently eating three meals a day consisting of premium puppy dry food and sometimes cooked chicken fillets or roast chicken and sometimes a rice mix. SANKARA loves, and I mean LOVES her food and when you are preparing her meal she will come running, she will sit at the window and howl with her siblings to be fed. She is first to try and get to her bowl and gulp down her food as she has grown up with her siblings eating at the same time. She would benefit from a slow feeder or she will settle when she finds her own home. She has sampled lamb off cuts and we are using Smackoâs for treats and training.
Sleeping
SANKARA loves sleeping with her brothers in a dog bed undercover at the back door. She sleeps through the night and normally goes to bed around 10pm and will not wake until about 7 am. During the day she will snuggle up with one of her siblings in a round dog bed or on a blanket at the back door. On some evenings she will have a sleep on the couch with her foster adults.
Toileting/Training/walking
SANKARA is continuing to learn about toilet training and has access to the garden at night and both garden and grassed area during the day. On occasions she has had an accident on the rear deck she has been too long asleep, but will mostly go outside on the grass. In her new home we would expect her to have a few accidents until she is used to her new surroundings and finds her spot. It will be important for you to encourage her to go outside and find her place once she wakes up from sleeping or taking a nap.
SANKARA is currently wearing a collar and training to sit. She will take food from your hand greedily but is gentle when doing so. It will be important that she goes to puppy school to further her training.
Due to her age and not being fully vaccinated SANKARA has not been on a lead or harness or been on walks. She has been wearing a collar and is not fussed about having it on. She will need ongoing use of the lead and would benefit from learning from other dogs. We also take her out the front to get her used to seeing new things like cars driving past and people/dogs out walking.
Once SANKARA is old enough and fully vaccinated it will be important that she is taken for a daily walk.
Exercise/toys
SANKARA loves exploring in the house and outside in the garden. She can be seen with her siblings in the garden playing hide and seek and possibly chewing on a plant or stick. She enjoys wrestling with her siblings and is usually the instigator. You will normally find her outside in the garden exploring or playing with her toys, siblings and resident dogs. SANKARA is learning about tug of war and chewing toys.
Children
SANKARA is currently living in a home with 2 adults and 2 older teenagers, which she adores. SANKARA has also been around other people and is very friendly, however she has puppy teeth and is growing fast so a home with older children would be better suited.
Dogs/Cats
SANKARA has not been tested with cats, but due to her age I don't see any problem with her being homed with a cat.
SANKARA is currently living with two of her siblings and 2 Jack Russellâs who are older. SANKARA is not to fussed by the other dogs but when she tryâs getting attention from the other dogs, being older they can be grumpy. SANKARA would love to find a home with a medium/large size male dog. She is very considerate and can amuse herself and would not annoy them too much.
Travel
SANKARA is not fussed by the car and will normally just lay down and enjoy the ride. Sometimes at the start of the drive she may whine but will settle.
Bath
SANKARA has had a few baths and is not fussed by the water at all. She is given treats during the bath to learn it is ok to have a spa treatment.
