About Thumper (Desexed and Vaccinated) -Special Needs
Despite being very full at the shelter, we could not leave this boy behind when we saw his condition. It appears that thumper was dumped when his owners discovered his medical problem. Due to malocclusion, his front teeth do not align properly and grow at odd angles. This prevented him from being able to eat, and he was slowly starving to death. When a member of the public took him to the pound they immediately trimmed his teeth as they were over an inch long (rabbit teeth never stop growing, which is why they have to gnaw all the time). Thumper can now put food in his mouth, but it is only a short term solution. He is going to require extensive dental work, and is likely to have his top and bottom teeth completely pulled out while he is under anaesthetic. This is a permanent solution to avoid the discomfort and pain he has obviously gone through. However, he will require his vegetables to be chopped up for the rest of his life. We are starting a fund for thumper, to help cover his medical bills. If you would like to donate towards these costs, please contact us. Update 4. 12. 10: thumper the toothless wonder is back from the vets. He is gaining weight very nicely and is such a gorgeous boy. Many thanks to the kind and generous thumper-fans! new photos to come. . . Update 12. 12. 10: throughout everything thumper has been such a lovable and outgoing boy. He trusts us and seems to know we have helped him. Ideally, thumper would like a home where he is around his humans all the time (he wont chew anything, and is pretty well litter trained!). He is very social, and has perfect manners with smaller pets like guinea pigs. He does not like to drink out of a bottle, he prefers water bowls. Oh, and he has the loveliest blue eyes! this is one boy who is very easy to fall in love with. If you would like to adopt thumper in the future, please fill in an adoption form at our website: www.
