The let me introduce you to Thor

Thor is a 3 year old Husky X gentleman, full of personality and potential! He has a gorgeous coat, is a medium - large size dog and is looking for somebody to call his forever family. Will this be you?

OBEDIENCE

Thor is a very smart and sometimes boisterous young dog, with so much potential. He sits for treats, shakes hands, and will await your approval before digging into food in his bowl.

As Thor is still young, he will need ongoing obedience training to maximise his potential, as he is a quick learner and aims to please.

Thor is house trained, however does not care too much for being inside the house, and if brought inside, he’ll often let himself out after 5-10mins. He much prefers the outdoor life

ENRICHMENT

Thor lives for his daily walks, currently morning and evening for 30 minutes. This is his favourite time of the day, where he loves to walk and take in all the exciting smells.

Thor is generally good on lead but when he gets excited he will pull and is very strong so he will require additional training on leash edicate. We would be seeking a strong handler to manage his leash walking

Thor loves to do zoomies and play in the yard so he forever home will need a good size yard for him to play

SLEEPING

Thor spends his nights outside the back door in his bed, and is as quiet as a mouse unless there is any disturbance in the parks behind the house. He definitely likes to ensure the house is protected and will alert you if there are any strange noises. He sleeps well through the night.

SOCIALISATION

As a young dog, Thor is very excitable when he first meets people, may jump but is very quick to settle, and will just want rubs and pats, rolling over for you to scratch that favourite spot of his belly.Once he has his initial excitement of meeting people sorted he settles down and is a relaxed boy

He is very excitable when encountering other dogs whilst out walking however settles once they are out of sight and he is back to enjoying his walk and sniffing everything around him.

We have tested him with a submissive female and he was great and showed little interest but we feel he would be better suited to an only dog home at this stage

FOOD

Thor will do almost anything for a tasty treat. He currently eats twice a day, with the occasional bone (his favourite!), with a breakfast of dry food only and dinner with a combination of wet/dry.

TRAVEL/CAR

Thor is very excited to travel in a car, and will have his head out the window the whole trip, not once sitting down. He is always on the hunt for new things to spot on his trips!

IDEAL HOME:

Thor would be best suited to a home where he fits into an active lifestyle as he is a very energetic dog, with a strong commitment to ongoing training and unleashing his full potential. For this reason, we would like previous dog experience.

Thor is such a happy dog, and is content to stay home on his own without destructiveness whilst you are out, however he will benefit from being around the family whilst they are home. He will follow you around the yard whilst you are working or gardening, never being too far from you.

If Thor’s forever home has children, these will need to be upwards of 12 years old due to his size and energy.

Although Thor has tested well with a submissive female, we believe Thor would thrive as the only dog in the home.

Adoption criteria:

Large size yard with secure fencing, plenty of shade and shelter and grass to run
Able and willing to take him on a good walk at least once a day
A home that are willing to continue his lead training
A home that can continue is socialization skills with other dogs
A home with experienced family members
