About Brutus ~ Boxer X Staffy Puppy(Rev.Apps 5/4/22)
PLEASE NOTE: Dog Rescue Newcastle provide individual listings specific to each foster dog that comes through our doors. Each listing outlines the specific requirements, and home that we are looking for. Should you submit an application OR inquiry and NOT receive a response within 5 business days (Monday-Friday), please understand that you have not met the specific requirements of the foster carer and will not be proceeding to the next stage. Please do not be disheartened or discouraged if you do not receive a reply, this simply means you were not a suitable match at this time. Dog Rescue Newcastle reserve the right to not reply to unsuitable applicants and will not tolerate bullying, intimidation or harassment of our volunteers
Meet Brutus – 9 week old male Boxer X Staffy Puppy.
Brutus is a big puppy with a beautiful gentle nature. He loves playing with his doggy friends, pats and snuggles with his foster carers, and just sitting by your side, preferably with his head in your lap.
Brutus is currently in care with his brother, other small breed dogs and young children and gets along well with everyone so he has had a great social start to life.
He will grow into a BIG dog, so please consider your circumstances both now and in the long term and do some research on what is involved in caring for, living with and training large dogs prior to submitting an application.
Training is critical for Brutus to grow in to the best dog he can be. As a larger breed, the consequences of behavioural issues are bigger so you will need to commit to puppy training and ongoing socialisation and training using positive reinforcement to ensure they don’t develop. Brutus is a great listener and responds well to gentle redirection and reinforcement.
Brutus would love a home where he is not left alone too much so he doesn’t get lonely and stressed. Ideally his owner would be home most of the time and he would love a friendly adult dog as a teacher and playmate. He will need to be welcomed as a member of the family, with access to indoors and a yard to run around in with secure fencing that is at least 6ft tall with no gaps. He will need regular walks for exercise and mental stimulation.
As Brutus is not yet desexed, he is only available for adoption to residents of Newcastle, Hunter Valley, Central Coast and Port Stephens because he will need to be returned to our vet for desexing when he is five months old. This is not negotiable.
Expressions of interest for Brutus are being taken at this stage as he is not available for immediate adoption.
