Newton really is a lovely fellow, a good looking guy. He is everything you want in a dog. He is handsome and has the softest coat which makes him so cuddly. He has a big deep bark to protect his yard yet doesn’t bark excessively. He knows how to do his job. He is happy to have pats but doesn’t bug you for them non-stop.
Newton is content to be inside or outside. He is inquisitive, but also likes to just chill out once he’s had his energy burst. Another great thing about Newton is that he doesn’t jump up like some big dogs do and although he could bench-surf for food, he doesn’t.
Newton is still a puppy at heart and still has some learning to do, but he really is a quick learner, and an obedient and loving boy. He can sit, wait and shake. He started off with some food guarding issues but this has improved by the day, and once we earned his trust he was fine. He is fed with his foster dog brother without any issues. He is so gentle when it comes to hand feeding him. He loves his treats. Newton does needs some more practice walking on a lead and might need a strong hand to help him with this as he weighs about 38kgs.
Newton has been living with his foster dog brother. They are great friends and spend a lot of the day playing with each other until they are both worn out. Newton would benefit from having another doggy friend similar to his own size (med/large) to spend his days with. However, if someone in Newton’s new family is home during the day he would probably be just as content to hang out with them and get his exercise in daily walks.
Newton also shares his foster home with a three year old child who he couldn’t be more amazing with. He is so aware of the little boy and knows to be careful around him. He even waits for the toddler to walk down the stairs before he will go down. Newton has met another small child and really just wants to play and be loved by them. This also includes trying to share the toddler’s soft toys to cuddle with.
This big boy will make a wonderful addition to any loving family.
