About Smudge
Mr Smudge is ready to find his forever people 💙
Smudge was born wearing a tuxedo so it’s no surprise that he is looking for a very special home.
His adoption trial didn’t work out, through no fault of his own, and he has spent the last few weeks with his foster family learning some social skills ready to find his forever humans.
In a few short weeks Smudge has gone from being a scaredy cat who would flee underneath the bed at the slightest noise to now ‘owning’ said bed where he hangs out with his foster floofs and will happily present his tummy for a rub from his foster mum.
Smudge has formed a huge bromance with his foster brother and also loves a smooch with his foster sister, so ideally Smudge will go to a home with another friendly cat (or two). As he can still be nervous around humans he would be happiest in a home with no children, or with older children who will understand when he needs some space.
Smudge will need a calm, patient home where he is given a few weeks to settle in. This will help him become confident enough to show you his true colours, and boy, when he does will you fall in love with this gentle snuggle bug!
*warning* earplugs may be required due to a tendency for very loud purring.

Adoption details
ADOPTION PROCESS:
1. An Adoption enquiry should be made via the JotForm
https://cdn.jotfor.ms/shellys.place.rescue/adoption-enquiry
2. Once your application has been received, one of our volunteers will contact you for a phone interview. This is to determine whether one of our cats or kittens will be a good fit for your home. We all want long-term success in placing rescue animals, so finding the best fit for the animal AND the family is very important.
3. 'Meet & Greet' with the animal and their carer will then take place if the application is approved.
4. A Property check will take place via a video call (due to Covid restrictions). Once this has been successfully completed, adoption paperwork finalised and the adoption donation processed, the pet can be collected from foster care.
5. A 14 day settling-in period commences once the animal has been collected from foster care.
6. Adoption is finalised after 14 days. Paperwork/records will be included in an adoption pack.
7. All animals for adoption are kept up to date with vet work until the date of adoption. The pet will be rehomed desexed, vaccinated, microchipped and treated monthly for fleas and intestinal worms. Once the adoption is finalised, the new owners are responsible for all vaccinations and preventative treatments.
As we are run entirely of volunteers we endeavour to respond to your enquiry as soon as we can. Your patience is greatly appreciated.
PLEASE NOTE: We are unable to hold any animals. Please only apply if you are ready to adopt now.
