Gyro – a sweet dog you will grow to adore

Gyro is a highly affectionate young man, who will be your shadow almost immediately.
Read on to learn all the information you need to know about this gem of a pooch:

Gyro follows his carer everywhere, so he has a bed in virtually every room in the house. No
major barking issues …although he will bark if he sees birds or hears loud neighbour cars
starting up…pretty normal!

Gyro has not been tested on young kids, but his foster carer suspects he will be fine. He is
totally ok with most small dogs and will interact and play but supervision is required with
some dogs because for whatever doggy reason, Gyro thinks he can be a bossy boots and
chase the dog around. A pooch playmate would be wonderful for Gyro as he has a lot of
fun. But if you are a one dog owner that’s ok if you dedicate time to play with him each day.
He does NOT like to be left alone so he does need a family home all or most of the time. He
is very clever at trying to break out of rooms by jumping onto handles that can be
manipulated open so you will need a way to secure the room. His foster carer is sure he
would love the beach and leash free parks.

Grooming
Gyro is a heavy shedder. So his new owner will either need to be ok with this or have time
to vacuum and clean daily. Other than this , there is very little grooming required,
just a brush once every few days.

Routine.
Before bed Gyro has a toilet stop, then sleeps with you in your bed. If this is not for you, he
possibly could be trained to sleep at the side of your bed on the floor but no guarantees. He
is extremely cuddle happy. Always have fresh water in the room as he will jump off the bed
to quench his thirst.

He will sit and wait on command for food, a very good habit to keep moving forward. Ideally his new owner will have a doggy door. In time hopefully he will become more toilet trained but at this stage, he will need some assistance with this in his new home.

Walks – Gyro likes a 20-minute or so walk per day. He doesn’t pull. Walking is a great
opportunity for further training and Gyro would benefit from obeying commands during
walks.

In Summary…

We would love to see Gyro find a home where he is most definitely allowed to snuggle with
or without you on the furniture. He will whine if you leave him outside! If he has a doggy
door and access to inside, he will be independent but still won’t like it if you leave him so he
needs someone willing to take him out with you as much as possible.
