Chewie

Chewie is a cute and active Jack Russell x with lots of personality. He loves loves loves to run, either on his own or playing chase with other dogs (even his kelpie foster brother can’t keep up!). He will make a toy out of anything and is very fun to watch. He also loves to potter around the garden with you and is a great little sidekick. At the end of the day, he snuggles up on the couch and appreciates a gentle massage.
This smart boy has mastered “sit”, “touch”, “spin” and has excellent recall, always staying close by when off lead. He walks well on lead but does get nervous in new environments; once he’s had time to adjust he relaxes. He is toilet trained and sleeps in his crate all night though he is hesitant to get in initially. Chewie loves other dogs and is cat friendly though may chase a cat that runs - dog savvy cats only.
Chewie is quite timid, especially with men or people with loud voices. If he is feeling scared, he will pee a little out of fear. He will resource guard high value toys or bones (though this mostly seems to happen with children). He doesn’t like to be left alone in the backyard and will bark.
Chewie’s ideal adopter will be experienced with scared dogs and be very good at reading their body language. They will have a commitment to ongoing training and exercise, and know about confidence building for dogs. They will also be home more often than not. Chewie is probably not suited to apartment living unless you have very forgiving neighbours (read: he will bark). Somewhere he can run around is also required, whether it be private or public property. He can live with or without another dog but does enjoy the companionship of other dogs. No children.
Chewie is an excellent dog with so much potential; in the right hands he will flourish in to a life long friend.
