On Hold
About Lily - 13 Week Old Cattle Dog (On Hold)
Special Needs Puppy Lilly. Lilly is a beautiful 13 week old Cattle puppy who's destiny changed when it was discovered she was deaf
Lilly was headed for life on a farm when her owner realised that she couldn't hear so farm life would not be safe for her.
This is when she came into the care of DRN and was fostered with a family who has had previous experience with hearing impaired pups. She's progressed amazingly and is no longer jumpy or nippy and has even learned some sign language prompts for sit, come & kisses. She loves her food so that is a great motivator for training her.
She loves people and will shadow you while you walk around the house waiting for a pat or a treat.
She equally adores the dogs she lives with and will only be considered for a home with another calm older dog who can be her ears & teach her dog stuff.
Lilly's ideal home will be one who knows or is willing to learn about training a deaf dog. She will need someone who is fully committed to continuing with her training so they will need to be home more often than not. Being a cattle dog, she's going to need lots of mental and physical exercise so she doesn't gain weight.
Pups love their outside environment so please NO apartments or courtyard applications as working breeds need plenty of space to run around in. She will need good fencing with no small gaps.
We always recommend puppy-training classes to give your new family member the best start in life. All puppies will need plenty of affection, exercise, and training to ensure proper boundaries and routines are established. This will ensure that you get the best family member/friend possible.
Lilly needs to be welcomed inside when people are home, and to sleep inside at least until fully grown. She will be a wonderful family dog but may not be suitable for children under 10 years of age.
As Lilly is not yet desexed, she is only available for adoption to Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens because he will need to be returned to a local vet for desexing when he is approximately 5/6 months old. Please NO out of area applications.
If you are interested in adopting Lilly please fill out the adoption application form here https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt.
For more information please contact her foster carer at drn.Beth@gmail.com
PLEASE NOTE: When applying for our dogs and puppies, please ensure to list the name of the dog you wish to adopt. Please do NOT just list the reference number or the microchip number as this will delay your application reaching the correct foster carer.
Lilly is currently located in Awaba NSW (Lake Macquarie Region NSW) and is available to the immediate regions only due to desexing requirements. Her adoption fee is $700 which includes all up to date vet work, such as desexing, microchipping, vaccinations and treatment for fleas and worms.
Medical notes
