About Saxon
PLEASE NOTE THAT UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE UNABLE TO FLY OUR ANIMALS EITHER WITHIN WA OR INTERSTATE
NAME: Saxon
BEFORE SAFE ESPERANCE: Came to SAFE Esperance as an owner surrender.
BREED: Staffordshire Bull Terrier
General breed traits: Even though they look tough they are affectionate and loving dogs with family - known as Nanny dogs they are great with children if brought up with them correctly. They love to be with their people and do not cope with being alone, with you they are happy, therefore they are not outside dogs. They love to talk and have their own unique vocal expressions. They are energetic and need a really good work out every day. Early training is essential with this breed especially consistent and positive socialisation with other dogs. Bold, intelligent, reliable, and loyal, this breed is not for novice owners.
ASSETS: Easy going, affectionate, devoted, obedient, confident, and playful pretty much sums this boy up! He loves human company and affection and is very loyal. He has a ton of love to give to the right family but can be a little stubborn at times if he's not getting his own way!
FAVOURITE THINGS: Soft toys! Although he does destroy them... Once he's finished his destructive activities he loves to curl up with his person for snuggles.
ENDEARING FEATURES: His loving and affectionate nature makes him a delight to be around.
OTHER ANIMALS: Saxon has lived with an older dog before so could live with another mature friendly dog for company. He is untested with cats and small animals so we won't rehome him to a property that has them in residence.
GENERAL INFO: Saxon could do with a little training on the lead as he does pull at times. He is housetrained and rarely barks. As a typical Staffy he will try to push the boundaries when in the mood but is responsive and wants to please and is generally very well behaved in the house. He isn't destructive (apart from his soft toys!) and knows a few commands. Saxon is an old soul with a calm and gentle way about him - he is very focused on his human so could be happy as an only dog if he can be a constant buddy - he will follow you everywhere. He does enjoy canine company but doggy interactions on his daily walks or meet ups with a doggy friend may be all that he needs at this time in his life.
ESSENTIALS for Saxon:
** A dog-experienced, loving home where someone is there for most of the day or can take him with them when they go out. Saxon is not happy to be left at home alone.
** An owner who will continue with a little training, especially with his lead work
** Either a mature gentle doggy friend or constant human buddy.
** Moderate daily exercise where he has the opportunity to interact with friendly dogs a few times a week.
** A well fenced, secure yard with some grass and interesting things for him to sniff and explore.
** To be allowed to be inside or out as he chooses and to sleep inside at night, preferably very close to his person.
He could live with dog-savvy, gentle children over 12 years of age only, he can be a bit of a bull in a china shop when goofing around but as a more mature dog he also needs down time and his personal space to be respected.
