About Winston ~ 6yr Old Dachshund X(On Tiral 7/4/22)
PLEASE NOTE: Dog Rescue Newcastle provide individual listings specific to each foster dog that comes through our doors. Each listing outlines the specific requirements, and home that we are looking for. Should you submit an application OR inquiry and NOT receive a response within 5 business days (Monday-Friday), please understand that you have not met the specific requirements of the foster carer and will not be proceeding to the next stage. Please do not be disheartened or discouraged if you do not receive a reply, this simply means you were not a suitable match at this time. Dog Rescue Newcastle reserve the right to not reply to unsuitable applicants and will not tolerate bullying, intimidation or harassment of our volunteers
This is Winston! A happy and loving 6 year old Dachshund x Staffy.
Winston is very gentle and loves cuddles with just about anybody, including kids! He has lots of energy for walks but is also happy to chill out and sleep during the day. He gets along with most dogs at the dog park but sometimes gets little man syndrome with really big dogs. Since coming into foster care, he’s been really loving the beach and has spent time around kids from 6-8 years old.
Winston is fully toilet trained and is working on walking on the lead and basic commands (e.g. sit, lie down). He has shown to be a very focused learner and eager to please. He hasn’t shown interest in toys but likes treats and pats. Winston does not chew on shoes or steal your socks, preferring to stay near you at all times. Winston is not vocal and you’d be hard pressed to hear him barking, unless he’s chasing the water when the garden hose is on!
Winston enjoys time inside and outside including lazy naps on the deck and inside on a warm rug or on the couch. He is happy to stay at home alone for longer hours, providing that he gets lots of cuddles and a walk as soon as you come home.
Winston’s ideal forever family will be an active family with younger kids and another small dog. He would like to have someone home with him most of the time. Winston will need an appropriately fenced yard with no small gaps. He has been to the vet since coming to Dog Rescue Newcastle and has arthritis in his back leg. He is having weekly injections for four weeks currently to help him live a fuller life and his forever family will have to take this into consideration when adopting him.
Winston is currently living in the Newcastle NSW region. For more information, please contact Jasmine on drn.jasmine@gmail.com, Winston's adoption fee is $500, his adoption fee includes desexing, vaccinations and microchipping and he has been treated for fleas and worms.
If you are interested in adoption Winston, please fill out the adoption application here https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt . Interstate adoptions will be considered on a case by case basis.
Please ensure to list the name of the dog you wish to adopt. Please do not just list the reference number or the microchip number as this will delay your application reaching the correct foster carer.
