Meet Moxley – he came first in class for the use of puppy dog eyes, despite having finished his puppyhood days sometime ago.
This young fella is a bit timid but a gentle boy, who is affectionate once he has established trust with you. He needs a patient and caring home where he can be himself and be loved. He is playful and loves a good belly rub.
He is not tested with other animals or children and takes a little longer with strangers, so some patience, tasty treats and love will go a long way for this affectionate dog.
Moxley needs a quiet home that has a big fenced in yard where he can explore and not get disturbed by traffic or loud noises. He enjoys his backyard exercises and mental stimulation and is seeking someone willing to play and train him out of his fears for unknown sounds and strangers, and familiarise these to him in a slow and patient manner. He can be left at home during work hours; he will cry a little or seek you out initially, but eventually gets used to it.
He is house trained and knows to go to the toilet outside. It is best to walk him when it isn’t too noisy or too many people around so he can be relaxed and walk easily. He pulls on his leash if scared so some firmness, patience and a close hold on the leash will do the trick. Being a dog born during Covid lockdowns he is quite unfamiliar with suburban environments, so it’s a matter of getting him used to these new experiences using encouragement, tasty treats, quieter times and lots of patience.
Moxley is very playful and a medium energy dog and will respond well to a tennis ball and mental stimulation through some home-grown games with tasty treats as rewards. He is a quick eater and is food motivated. He can be stubborn if fearful or sometimes when playful, but is quite obedient once a firm and calm tone has been used. He responds well to this tone and will listen if told to do something. He will be able to be trained well and is quite clever.
