Soxie is learning the ropes quite quickly and adapting to home life quite well. When she came to us a few short weeks ago she wasnât quite sure what was up or down. She didnât appear to know the difference between indoors and out and it took her a couple of days to settle in. She absolutely loves the attention and craves being around her human companions every minute of the day!
Obedience: Soxie is still learning the basic commands but as she is quite young I know she will adapt quickly once receptiveness is in place. She understands sit and wait however this is also something that will need to be drummed into her as the time goes on. She is definitely intelligent, will come when she is called: so learning her name, and loves a good treat as rewards!
Enrichment: Soxie still has a lot of growing and developing to do. She is easily distracted by other dogs and humans and becomes easily excited, will run along the fence line and bark a little bit but once told to settle down she will. Her fur brothers absolutely adore her and love the extensive running games they get to play all day long. Helps to get them to sleep at night! A home with another dog for play time would be ideal and perhaps an environment where she isnât left at home all alone all day is a must.
Sleeping: Soxie has proven she prefers to sleep inside! If she is left out for too long she will be sure to let you know! Once sheâs picked her room to sleep in, she settles quite quickly. She will sleep all night long, however the little monkey sneaks her way onto the kids bed and we quite often find her tucked up with her head on the pillow in the morning! Sheâs not a big fan of having to go back outside though so takes a bit of convincing.
Socialisation: Soxie has settled in really well and has proven to be a little socialite! She plays well with the other dogs (here at home and others outside of home as well). No signs of aggression shown, loves to chase and be chased! A dog of similar energy levels would be ideal to maintain this! A family with children around the same age of mine (10-12 or older) would be ideal as they too portray the same level of energy. Any younger is not ideal as she is quite strong and boisterous.
Food: Soxie is definitely not a fussy eater! She will eat whatever she is given and she is loving trying all the new foods and treats. Soxie will sit when sheâs told and is learning to wait until told to eat. At the moment, Soxie is eating both breakfast and dinner with treats in between.
Travel/Car: Soxie isnât a big fan of getting in and out of cars it seems. Once in however she travels quite well and will sit/lay while driving. It has taken 2 of us the past couple of trips to coax her into the car (also using treats) but with practice she should get better at this.
Ideal home: I feel Miss Soxie definitely needs a home with older children and another dog of similar energy levels. A family that isnât away from home all the day is also ideal as Soxie requires a lot of attention, training and energy! Soxie will need to have a family that allows her to come inside when she wants and someone that will allow her to sleep inside at night time! Soxie definitely needs to feel part of the family and be included in all parts. Soxie needs a family that has the time to invest in her further training and to ensure her daily enrichment is fulfilled as she is quite the intelligent young miss! Soxie will make a very loveable companion and is sure not to disappoint in any way!
