About Polly
MUST go to a home with a young well-adjusted canine friend who she can romp and play with, and who can be a good role model for her.
NO EXCEPTIONS PLEASE DO NOT APPLY IF YOU DO NOT ALREADY HAVE AN EXISTING DOG IN THE FAMILY
Polly is a rambunctious, healthy 8 week old puppy who loves to run and play. Polly does the funniest front rolls when she is playing. When she is tuckered out she loves nothing better then to climb on the lounge and have a snuggle with you or have a sleep on her own bed.
She must be allowed inside at all times and permitted to sleep inside in a warm area of a night and to cuddle on the couch with you.
Polly would be ok in a home with children over the age of approximately 10yo
We are looking for adopters who are looking for a dog to truly be part of the family, access inside, daily adventures and exercise, mental stimulation, supervised socialisation with other dogs and people outside of the home, force free training and of course lots of love and attention!
It’s also super important that adoptive families are committed to ongoing training, firstly of course puppy school but consistent training really for first 18 months and beyond is also very important. Polly will grow into a large breed girl and it is very important that she grow into an awesome doggy citizen and an advocate for rescued dogs. Her current carer is qualified trainer and is able to provide advice and knowledge for force-free free training, mental stimulation and socialisation.
A home where adopters are not away from home for long periods and have the time for continued training are a must
Her new owners must also be prepared for Polly's continuing puppy stage ie chewing, mouthing, house training etc and set Polly up by giving her lots of appropriate chew things, re directing mouthing and setting her up to succeed with house training and not just expect her to know where to go.
Most household noises don’t bother her much and she normally sleeps through it all including barking dogs ! Her carer is currently working on desensitising her to household objects such as brooms and vacuum cleaners.
She loves to go for a walk in her pet pram and will watch the world as it goes past.
She can go to her bed and will sit for her treat. She will also sit for her dinner although her impulse control is short at the moment but with time and patience she will grow into a well mannered little dog.
Her toilet training is well on its way and she will let you know when she needs to go outside.
She has not been using pads and will instead go straight out into the backyard and use the grass. The rain and thunder doesn’t bother her and neither does the hose and water.
Polly is a delightful little puppy but will need a family committed to her growth, development and care for at least the next 15 years
If you would like to meet Polly please email us as much detail as possible on yourself and the home you are able to provide including your other dog and other pets if any, family members, lifestyle, exercise and mental stimulation you will provide, how often Polly would be alone, where she will have access in the home, where Polly would go if you went away and could not take her with you, ability to cover vet expenses and any other information you wish to provide. We will not be replying to any enquiries that do not send the additional information via email.
Medical notes
MEDICAL NEEDS
Polly will have her second vaccination prior to going to his new home. Her new owner will be responsible for ensuring that she receives her 3rd vaccination in a little over a month's time.
Polly will be desexed at 8-12 months of age as per veterinary advice included in the adoption fee. Polly will need to return to our rescue vet Beverly Hills Animal Hospital for her desexing procedure and we will liaise directly with her new owner regarding desexing booking.
