About Beau
Prime the salad bar, restock the toy basket, and ready your heart for our gorgeous Beau. Our 6 year old mister moohound has a delicious helping of speckles, a lean that wins hearts, and a personality that radiates joy and love.
Beau is the most delightful mix of grandpa and goober – often needing encouragement to get out of bed to start the day! Once he’s upright, he’ll ring in the new day with a zoomie, and by carrying out the most discordant symphony of squeaks.
Nicknamed Oboe, Beau’s love language is anything that goes squeak and scritches on his thunder thighs. Charming, affectionate and silly – Beau will let you know if you’ve stopped the scritch too early, and employs his puppyish yips, and paw of more to get you to keep playing with him.
This tiny horse will help himself to your unattended snacks and/or tea – even orange juice has Beau’s name on it (or so he thinks) but is responsive to redirection.
You’ll often find Beau sitting comically on his own accord, roaching with his teeth on display, and his tongue derping, or his snoot vibrating with happy, audible teef chatters – he’ll make your heart sing with the way he gallops through the house, his after bog jog and the way he pounces on his toys and carries them from room to room.
Mister Beau is quite content to lounge around by himself if you work from home, as long as he has a twice daily walk, and a yard to expend some of his zoomie beans. Beau loves socialising with greyhound friends, but other dog breeds are still a foreign, so you’ll need to continue to ensure positive and calm introductions. Beau is not a fan of cats, or small dogs who go bork.
Let this gorgeous boy bounce into your heart, and you’ll be living the motto ‘Live, laugh, love’.

Medical notes
Beau did have some seizures in the last few weeks in his former owners home but did not receive vet treatment. Now back in our care we have had him examined by our Vet and started him on a very low dose of anticonvulsant drug. He has not has a seizure in his time with us. He will be reassessed in mid April.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
