Max is a great little companion dog with a lot of personality. Look at his ears! Who doesn’t love a one ear up, one ear down dog? Max is a very affectionate, loving dog - he is a little nervous at first with strangers but warms up very quickly. He has his own dog bed but insists he sleeps in the bed with his carer. She’s been unable to convince him otherwise and says that he doesn’t smell or make noise so doesn’t disturb her sleep. She has woken up to him sleeping on his back with his legs in the air and his head under the blanket. He tucks himself under blankets to sleep which is very cute.
Max walks well on leash most of the time. Sometimes he pulls to smell something, or to greet another dog. He’s scared of big dogs and may greet smaller dogs but quickly moves on. We’re working on his socialisation with other dogs.
He is currently living in a four person share house. He instantly took to the women, and needed a bit of time to warm to the men. When he has seen children, he has been scared of them and gone in the opposite direction. He will bark at strangers who come to the door. If you hear him bark, you would think it’s a much bigger dog then he is. Like the bed, he wants to sit on the couch with his humans and he gets a bit stressed if he can’t join.
Max travels well in the car and is excited to go on a trip.
As his connection to his humans has grown stronger he dislikes being left at home by himself, whining when he’s left. Initially he was fine being left alone and would just go to sleep. So we are working on his separation anxiety.
Recently when he went to the vet for his check up, the vet nurse said that he was walking around the vet like he owned the place and he got on well with her blue heeler.
Max’s carer said he’s not a fussy eater. He will eat enough and leave food. Thus not overly food motivated and we’re yet to find his favourite treat to assist with training.
Currently Max’s carer exercises him around 1.5 hours a day (1 very large walk or 2-3 medium walks) and that means that he sleeps well at night. He has lived with cats previously, though on walks he’s wanted to chase cats.
Max gets the thumbs up from his carer on being a lovable, affectionate pet. Are you able to get out and walk Max each day to meet his exercise needs? Like some couch cuddles and loving company? Max is the dog for you! Please fill out application.

Adoption details
We are a community fostercare network, not a shelter, and our dogs and cats are cared for in private homes. Note that we are very careful where we rehome our dogs and cats and we have an intensive process. If you want a quick turnaround we are not the group for you. If you seem like a good match for the dog of your choice we will organise a telephone chat, a meet and greet and a property check. We offer a six-week full refund, free assistance for six weeks for any issues, and a lifetime takeback policy with a fifty percent refund of the adoption fee.
We care for our dogs and cats and we want you to as well. We know that genuine applicants have no trouble with this process and understand that if we refuse you a dog or cat, it is because you are not the best match for that pet.
Our commitment to the dogs and cats in our care is total and we treat each one as if we are passing on a family pet. This may not suit you so we point out that there are equally great dogs and cats available in pounds, shelters and with other rescue groups.
