Hi there! My name is Cleo!
Myself and my friends Blanco and Pepper, were surrendered to Off The Chain K9 Rescue Qld as my family had to move suddenly and we weren't allowed in their new rental. It was very sad for us to be split up, and my owners miss us terribly - but know that they made the right decision and are hoping we all find furever homes soon.
Before coming into rescue care, I lived with 6 children ages 13yrs and down- so homes with kids are A-OK! I am also used to small-breed dogs as well as large dogs, adult humans and other cats. I can take about 2 weeks to settle in with new cats, but I will get there in time- like most cats, I am a careful and considered girl. I am perfectly litter trained, healthy and happy. I love my cat tree and just hang out sunbaking during the day, and come for pats and snuggles on the couch. I am a great addition to any home!
If you'd like to meet me, please apply now!
Adoption details
Before applying, please consider and finalise the following:
- Real estate approval
- Other resident pets fully vaccinated and preferably desexed
- The rescue pet's dietary requirements eg large breed vs medium breed, age
- Cats are adopted under the expectation they will be kept indoors or in an enclosed area eg cat run or cat-net veranda. We provide cats with core vaccines up to date while in care, however recommend a full FIV/FELV protocol especially if the cat will go outdoors.
Once you are ready to adopt, please complete the OTC Adoption Application questionnaire below. This is not a contract or agreement of any kind, just an expression of interest in the animal. We will not authorise meets unless this has been completed and only approved applicants may meet the animal. Once you are approved and have submitted all relevant information, we will organise for you to meet the pet at your home, or in a public place. If you have other pets they must be at the meet. You may be required to travel to the pet; we infrequently have admins available to drive extensive distance and it also says a lot if someone is able yet unwilling to come to the animal they have applied for. If for example you cannot drive, feel free to talk with us about possibility of travel to you.
At the meet if you and the pet get along you have the option of either taking the pet on the spot (in exchange for signed contract and the full adoption fee paid upfront) or placing the pet on hold for up to 2 days with a $100 non-refundable holding deposit. This deposit is then taken off the original adoption fee should you proceed with the adoption. Should you place a hold, we will not proceed other applicants until you have removed your hold or adopted the animal.
*PLEASE NOTE we do not hold pets without a non-refundable holding deposit of $100. If you are unwilling to put a deposit on the pet, we will continue to advertise and speak with other potential adopters, so you may miss out. We have had to make the deposit is non refundable to avoid time-wasters. The $100 holding deposit is then subtracted from the outstanding adoption fee, which is to be paid at collection of the pet. Eg if full adoption fee is $450, and you place a $100 holding fee on the animal- the day you collect the pet you will sign an adoption contract and pay the remaining $350 fee of which $50 is non-refundable.
On commencement of the trial period, OTC will send you a copy of your signed contract, the vaccination cards, desexing certificate and microchip number implant details. You will also be provided with 7 days worth of food, as well as what brand and type of food it is, so that you may change their diet slowly, or purchase more, if needed.
All animals are adopted out with vaccinations up to date; if for example you are adopting a young animal it may not have had a full protocol yet due to age- so any vaccinations due from date of adoption are the ethical and financial responsibility of the adopter. During the trial period, should the pet become ill, you must present it to the OTC-approved vet clinic in your area and OTC will cover any treatment needed.
So. Ready to roll? Then fill out the attached short form, and we will be in contact to successful applicants asap. Feel free to follow us up via Facebook page inbox.
