About Roxy ~ 9yr Old Kelpie(Rev. Apps 28/3/22)
Meet Roxy, a black and tan 9 year old female Kelpie. Roxy is an affectionate sweet girl, she loves people and pats. This very pretty girl is loving her 2 walks a day. Roxy is at her happiest just being with you. Whether it’s being your shadow around the house, or just chilling out on the floor wherever you are, she is the perfect company.
Roxy knows how to sit and is learning new words quickly as she is intelligent and eager to please. Being new to walks Roxy pulls on the lead but with a harness this is improving. Roxy pays little attention to other dogs on walks. Roxy rarely jumps, and on the odd occasion she does, it’s to gain attention for a pat. Since Roxy likes being the centre of attention she can occasionally get a little jealous of her foster brother, but this has improved greatly since being in foster care. She can be a bit protective of her food but this is easily managed by feeding separately.
Meeting new people is no problem for this human loving sweet girl. Roxy is toilet trained and learnt quickly to use a doggy door, and is learning what it’s like to be an inside dog. Inside is her happy place! Roxy sleeps on her bed outside her foster carers open bedroom door, as being close makes her feel secure.
Roxy will need 5foot fencing and a secure yard with some space to run around. Storms are very scary for Roxy and being outside in a storm she gets very distressed so access inside is really important for her. Mowers and vacuum cleaners make Roxy very excited as she tries to round them up! She also likes fetching a tennis ball.
Due to her age Roxy would suit a part time/stay at home worker or retiree as companionship is very important to her. She may also suit a quieter family with children over 12. Roxy currently lives with her 11yo foster brother and may suit being with an older male dog, but we think she would be in her element soaking up all the love as an only dog. Roxy has not been tested with cats or pocket pets.
