About Lola
*In foster care in Annandale, Sydney*
Introducing lovely Lola the Staffador - that's the fancy way of saying Staffy x Labrador.
This very gentle, beautifully mannered girl is toilet trained, comes when called, and calmly sits and wait for her food. Her penchant for following her foster mum around the house has earned her the nickname 'Shadow' - she definitely likes to know what's going on at all times!
You can follow Lola's adventures in foster care on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lola_maggies_rescue/
Lola *loves* a good play (especially with the garden hose!), as well as belly rubs, pats and cuddles. She's also perfectly content in her own space and can often be found napping peacefully in a quiet corner.
At the moment Lola is working with a trainer to improve her lead walking and help her with some reactivity when she sees other dogs in the street. She is quite protective of her people, and can get a little nervous about strange noises (especially at night).
Like all Maggie's pets, Lola is microchipped, desexed and vaccinated.

MY IDEAL HOME: I'd prefer a home in with a small yard, I'd love it even more if it was in a quiet neighbourhood as I can get a little spooked by loud noises. I struggle on timber floors, and so would appreciate some rugs, carpet or even a yoga mat to stop me from slipping and sliding.
My foster parents have been working from home, and I tend to keep them company, but I'm okay with spending time on my own too. If you'd prefer I didn't jump on the furniture, you'll be happy to know that I'm very good at sleeping in my own bed!
I totally love kids, so a family household with children to play with me would probably be my gold standard for the 'perfect home' :)
MY ENERGY LEVEL: Medium, I think! I have occasional bursts of energy - watch out for those, because I weight 30kg and can get QUITE rambunctious! - but generally, I'm happy to just relax out in the sun or on my cosy bed for most of the day.
In October 2021 I had surgery on one of my legs after playing too hard in the garden and just when I was back to full recovery, I hurt the other one and had another surgery in April 2022. This means I’ve been on reduced activity for over 6 months, so I'm still building my stamina back up. I get pretty tired after about 20 minutes of walking, especially on hills, but this is also because of my nervousness and energy.
MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: I adore them! I recently hung out with my foster mum's niece and nephew (aged 8 and 9), which made me very happy. I'm really gentle and love affection whenever kids come to visit me.
MY SUITABILITY TO CATS AND DOGS: I currently live with a very independent cat, who I am very respectful (and a little frightened) of. I'm best as the only dog in the home whilst I work on building my confidence around new dogs.
I'm not comfortable around other dogs when I’m outside on a lead, but I'm working on this with my foster parents and a professional trainer (who thinks I’m doing really well!).

Our foster carer will contact you when we receive your application to arrange a time for you to meet with their foster pet.
We want your adoption through Maggie's to be a good experience so we will occasionally suggest a different cat or dog that may suit your situation better and the needs of the individual pet.
All our pets leave for their new homes on a two week trial. At the end of the trial, we will transfer the microchip into your name and provide you with the pets vet certificates. Once you receive the Certificate of Identification from council, your adoption will be complete.
