About Kali
***I am only available for adoption locally due to location of our trainer and needing a slow transition with my new family. This includes Maitland, Newcastle, Lake Macquarie***
Hi! My name is Kali and I’m a 3 year old Dachshund ! I came into care as I was very anxious and my family didn't have any more resources left to help me.
On arrival to HHAR I was very fearful of everything around me and needed alot of time and training to show that the world is actually not so bad and new friends can be fun.
I have separation anxiety and I can be reactive of new environments. I am wary of new people and take time to trust them but I have improved alot on this whilst I have been in care 😊
I love cats, but I am a hound after all, so adult dog confident cats are best. I am wary of dogs at first, but inquisitive to say hello. Once I've gotten to know my doggy friends I love the company 😊
My ideal home is someone that understands that whilst I'm tiny and adorable, I am NOT a lap dog. I absolutely thrive when I get to work and am kept active. I love doing scent work and think I would absolutely ace doing scent detection work and agility 😊 I might be small but I have energy I need to use!
Because of my anxieties and the strict training I need to make sure I thrive, I am unfortunately looking for families with respectful children only (10yrs +). I need people around me that can respect what I need, but once settled I'll be apart of your family forever!
I know my foster mum has said my transition will be a slow process where I get to meet my family a few times before I leave. I am so excited to find my family but nervous about changing environments again! Thankfully the HHAR team have some tricks up their sleeve to make it as smooth as possible 😊
If you think I’d be a good fit for your family, let my foster parents know and they’ll send you through an application!
Loves and licks,
Kali!
