About Nixie
Beautiful Nixie is looking for a family who respects her independence—especially one with other cats she can hang out with!
Nixie had the most difficult and high-drama rescue we've ever been involved in.
in the early hours on a Monday morning, she was chased into Sydney Harbour, near Pyrmont, by a dog!
Poor little Nixie ended up in the water and swam to some rocks where she hid, unable to get back up from the huge drop down.
It took close to two hours and numerous attempts to get her but we had to have the help of Police Rescue. This poor cat was taken out from the rock wedge with a pole and a noose. A truly awful and scary rescue for her.
She was taken to the vet, freezing and dripping wet. They scanned for a chip but there was none. They suspected she was only about 4-5 months.
We called her Nixie as it means 'water nymph'.
We kept Nixie with our foster carer who was incredibly patient as this little cat wanted nothing to do with humans of any kind.
While working to socialise her before getting her desexed, we had no idea she was pregnant as she was so tiny but less than 8 weeks later - three little girls were born.
So, that was last year and Nixie's babies have all been rehomed and we are now needing a home for her.
Nixie has been living with a male foster carer. His incredible patience has paid off and he now gets to enjoy her rubbing against his leg, lying on the couch next to him and playing throughout the house.
Nixie is very food orientated and prances around for her meals and purrs when she receives them. If you haven't fed her, she'll let you know by gentle tapping your ankle.
A recent house guest, with their own cat, proved that her first love is another cat which is why we feel she needs a home with a friendly cat who is also longing for a buddy.
Nixie probably won't end up being a lap cat, but in time, she will be a fun companion for her human/s and definitely a bestie for another fur baby.
She's incredibly beautiful and has a lustrous, shiny black coat and the biggest green eyes. She's a small cat, weighing only 3.150kgs and only a year old.
It is our goal to have Nixie with a family who totally understands that this little one will require time to adjust and humans who respect her need for space.
Of course, we will closely with her and her new family to ensure that things go well.
