Fern is looking for her forever home and she deserves for it to be an amazing one! Fern is a little pocket rocket of happiness. She loves humans so much and wants to give them kisses all day, as long as it is in exchange for belly rubs! Fern starts off usually wiggling with excitement, but after that she calms down and is able to chill sometimes.
Despite being excited at times Fern appears to know she needs to be gentle with kids and seems to slow down with them. Fern also makes a great addition to any "clean-up crew" eating whatever falls from the baby's highchair. She may however knock little kids over with her jumping and excitement, so would be better for older children. Fern can also be a little mouthy grabbing hold of hands of people. She does not leave marks and her foster family think that she will stop this with ongoing correction and growing up.
Fern's new family will need to persist with discipline and training consistently to ensure she does not develop naughty behaviours. Despite all this Fern is a gentle girl at heart.
She loves her doggy friends, however was pretty scared of them to start. Fern needed to watch them from afar and settle in before becoming happy with her pack. After that she has enjoyed playing and chasing them around the yard. She still isn't sure about playing catch with toys, but perhaps she will learn, as she has learnt they make great chew toys for her teething. She is more interested in rounding up the dogs chasing the ball though.
Fern loves food and has not turned her nose up at any fruit or vegetable since coming into foster care. She is very food motivated and thus is a fast learner. She would thrive in a home willing to continue use her brain through training and puzzle games. Fern has already learnt to sit, shake, drop and wait for her dinner. Her latest trick is pausing in between mouthfuls of food when told, as otherwise she can be a big guts! She is still learning to enjoy car rides, but seems to like when she arrives at her destination and realises its somewhere new to explore.Fern has such spring in her step and can jump more than a meter in the air without moving, therefore she will not be suited to a house with low fencing. She is still learning not to jump up on humans.
Fern has spent the last few months in care for ongoing monitoring of an intermittent limp in her front leg. After orthopedic consultation Fern is ready for adoption and has the vets tick of approval, however her new family will need to have an understanding of these investigations before adopting. Fern has no need for medications and has not had any ongoing issues, which we are all very excited about!
This little pocket rocket deserves her best second chance. Fern is going to make someone the best dog! If she sounds like your kind of lady please come and meet this beautiful dog!
Fern is $350 to adopt and comes desex, C5 vaccinated, and given flea/worm/tick preventatives.
