About Milli
Little 10yo Milli was surrendered just before Christmas. She is now ready for adoption but needs a pretty special and dedicated home. She is 8 kilos.
She came in due to skin issues - scratching and scooting (although no anal glands) (under control now), also a shoulder injury and a healed cruciate injury (both ok now) so you can see she was in the wars.
Despite all of that she is without doubt one of the happiest and easiest little fosters I’ve had in 7 years. Truly delightful 🐾❤️ She acts (& thinks she is) much younger and is So full of fun and excitement when it’s outing time and very happy to nap when at home without getting underfoot.
She had missed her walks with previously owners but absolutely LOVES getting out most days (we do strolls) and is Fantastic both on and off lead. While she’d love to go longer, just getting out to the park and wander around with you has her looking up at you with a happy face and you know it’s her favourite thing.
She’s not keen on car trips but very happy to get in as she knows it means a walk, will pant through the drive and then be wagging her tail happy as can be when she gets out.
She has had pentasen shots and cytopoint injections over thefew couple of months which has helped enormously and is on special food for her skin allergies and so we are looking for a someone who
- strolls everyday and wants a buddy to tag along ( and if longer walks happy to use a pram or stroller to let Milli go too)
- previous experience with skin issues preferable so it doesn’t drive you crazy when it’s bothering her and you know what and how to adjust to the bad days to help her ( she hasn’t had a bad day in a couple of months)
- ideally someone around most of the time, another canine mate a bonus, to prevent her from being alone long periods & a dog door a big bonus
- she doesn’t like people or animals right in her face (who does) so no little kids or active puppies, so looking for a quiet home
She loves being around you but inside is happy to sit at your feet or lay under the table - she is very happily living with multiple dogs and cats without issue.
But as per the above while she is an absolute delight, and is truly a very happy and relaxed dog to have around, this will be her third home ( that we know of) so she will need ongoing care, for skin issues and weight loss, and routine exercise. This means being financially secure to keep her on her skin and mobility supplement which has made a great difference to her skin and cruciate recovery, also over the coming months/ years vet visits to top up pentasen shot and/or cytopoint or similar for skin - so vet visits are in her future hence someone that will take her as required
While it sounds like she has a lot going on she’s been Very easy to foster, we have adapted to her needs with vet advice and trying new things if needed ( such as claratyne on a bad day, hemp oil etc) without any issue or stress, and both skin and mobility issues are well under control but she does need a home dedicated to continuing that with the associated costs as they come up. Her legs are fine now and both vet and physio are thrilled at her quick and smooth recovery.
If you are interested you need to tell us about yourselves, your household, routines and experience, and what you can offer Milli. Ideally we would like to keep her relatively local since car trips stress her - never been sick, just the heavy panting.
We will only take email applications via petrescue so please do NOT call.
Medical notes
Milli had pentosan / cartrophen shots to aid with injuries she came in with - she has recovered well but we do strolls now instead of long walks, all without any issue.
Milli is on Antinol as both a joint supplement and to assist with healthy skin - she will need to stay on this or similar with her new home as a senior dog (who thinks and acts like a MUCH younger dog)
Milli will need ongoing help with itchy skin/scooting. Her first cytopoint injection lasted 8 weeks during the hot and humid weather, she has just had a second and is doing very well.
The above will be ongoing so will need someone to commit to ongoing vet care as needed.
