About Rafael Ortiz
TO APPLY FOR ADOPTION PLEASE SEND IN APPLICATION FORM AVAILABLE BELOW:
https://www.victoriandogrescue.org.au/about-vicdrg/adoption-and-foster-application-forms.html
Victorian Dog Rescue has a six-week full refund policy and a lifetime takeback guarantee that includes a full refund for the pet.
Please note: Rafael will be rehomed with another cat for company.
Rafael is a very sweet, gentle boy with a loving and calm nature. He is wonderful with other cats, very intelligent and is becoming more affectionate as he opens up and learns to trust. His foster mum says: "he is a truly loveable cat. He often comes for pats when I'm in bed and most nights snuggles next to me. He also likes to groom me".
Raffy is very friendly with other cats and often sleeps with his foster cat sibling. They regularly groom each other (as well as their foster mum!). He is an intelligent and playful kitten who likes solving treat puzzles, playing with his toys and climbing the cat tree. He'll happily push the ball around the track then wait for it to come back and do it again, entertaining himself for long periods. He is starting to participate in interactive play and occasionally likes rough play, but never gets vicious with other cats and never bites or scratches humans.
As Raffy has had a difficult start in life, he can be a bit cautious of strangers and doesn't love being picked up, but his trust is improving, and he is much less reactive than when he first came into our care. He has made great progress in his foster family, and he now approaches his people for pats and lets them approach him and sits on the couch, which makes us think he just needed some time to relax in a calm environment to show his lovely and playful personality.
A purrfect home for Rafael will be a quieter home with older teenagers and/or adults who have the patience to allow Rafael time to settle in his new environment. He would prefer a home with siblings that he can play with, sleep and groom.
Although it takes Rafael time to trust, once he knows he is safe with you, you will not find a more delightful companion. Rafael doesn't just want to live with you, he wants to develop a beautiful bond and be an important part of your everyday life.
Rafael is litter trained and can be left alone but would prefer to be with another cat. Currently he is not tested with dogs or other animals.
Thank you to Kate of Kate Stavrov Photography for the fantastic photos of Rafael.

Adoption details
We are a community fostercare network, not a shelter, and our dogs and cats are cared for in private homes. Note that we are very careful where we rehome our dogs and cats and we have an intensive process. If you want a quick turnaround we are not the group for you. If you seem like a good match for the dog of your choice we will organise a telephone chat, a meet and greet and a property check. We offer free assistance for six weeks for any issues, a lifetime takeback policy with full refund of the adoption fee, and will always be available to offer advice.
We care for our dogs and cats and we want you to as well. We know that genuine applicants have no trouble with this process and understand that if we refuse you a dog or cat, it is because you are not the best match for that pet.
Our commitment to the dogs and cats in our care is total and we treat each one as if we are passing on a family pet. This may not suit you so we point out that there are equally great dogs and cats available in pounds, shelters and with other rescue groups.

Please note that we do not take/make telephone calls prior to receiving an application.
Commonly asked questions and their answers are provided when you email us. Unfortunately we usually will not have time to reply to enquiries in more detail and will give priority to completed applications over enquiries. Priority will also be given to typed applications which are easier for us to read and to copy relevant parts.
We look forward to receiving your application.
