About Ethan
Ethan loves to be around humans. He likes to be near his favourite people and ideally, have a sturdy toy to play with at the same time.
Ethan is very intelligent, active and energetic. He requires intense bursts of play, mind stimulating games and things to occupy his brain; 10-15 mins of fetch (with two alternating toys) is his favourite game.
Being a working-line shepherd, Ethan is motivated to protect his place and people, so he needs ongoing management and training so he can relax and bark less! When his exercise and entertainment needs are met, Ethan’s barking reduces dramatically and he is happy to lay about the house and snooze.
Ethan is crate trained and sleeps best in his crate. He is not suited to a house with cats.
He is crate trained and is currently under the care of trainers at ProDog training, where he and his carers are learning how to be calmer on walks and that he doesn’t always have to be “on task” and searching for threats! HH will continue to support his new people with his training. He is very people friendly, but he will react to other dogs and needs a savvy owner who will give him direction and continue his management plan. His forever home will be patient, kind, have time to play with Ethan, support him with his training and ideally have a spacious yard and Shepherd experience. He is a sweet, super smart boy, who wants to please the humans, unfortunately before coming to HH he wasn’t shown how and suffered abuse, which has worsened his genetic need to watch vigilantly for threats.
He is lovely to pat and leans on the humans to offer them support haha! In the right home with people who are committed to him and their bond with him he will be a truly great dog. If he is adopted by someone who can’t give him the time he needs, he will deteriorate behaviourally and drive them nuts! So If you are looking for a best friend and have the time to give him, he will be a “once in a lifetime dog”.
