About Toro
A message from his carer
“ Hi! After having Toro a week, this is what I’ve noticed:
He wants nothing more than to be with his person at all times. He was spoiled and was used to being on the bed, couch, on his peoples lap and was carried all the time. Not having these things have been hard for him, but he’s adapting.
He still growls (sometimes barks) at us when he’s told to get off the bed or couch, but he does get off. And the growling is getting less.
He does not resource guard, but he play growls. And he wants you to chase him when he has his toys but he will play growl.
He needs play and exercise more than you’d think.
He was barking at people and dogs when we first got him, but that has diminished quite a bit. It’s worse when we’re sitting down, and rarely happens when we’re on a walk.
He really doesn’t like strangers coming into “his space.” When we tried to move him during his barking episodes w strangers is when we tried to nip us.
He’s not really interested in other dogs. He ignores them mostly, even when they bark at him.
He’s been trained to go pee in the bathroom at night. 🙈 I guess they used to put pee pads down and he mostly uses them….
He’s not very affectionate w strangers but has bonded w both Ollie and I very quickly and wants constant affection and attention from us.
He’s very sweet, but needs strict boundaries to control his growly attitude 😆 ”

Toro is a great little guy. He is very handsome and walks well, loves company and would suit a small home or apartment. He spends 90% of his time inside and is very happy inside. Toro is toilet trained and is a very low shedder. He’s been incredibly spoilt and now has an attitude which results in him growling and snapping when he doesn’t get his own way ….. but for this reason we are looking for a “confident no nonsense” person who understands this type of personality. His carer is doing a wonderful job and he completely respects her and follows the rules and everyone is happy. But if you were soft and unable to provide boundaries for Toro, you might find things difficult. Toro is much better as an only dog, but he likes other dogs .
Please send in an application outlining all of these things, tell us why you are suitable, what you will do, your experience etc. You must mention his growling quirks, so we know that you’ve read the whole profile .
